horse's field mate always pulls his fly mask off

My horse's field mate always pulls my horse's fly mask off. Is there a way to get around this without separating them or am I fighting a losing battle? Flies are pretty bad as they're oppposite a crop field.

I have the same issue, unfortunately with a sweet itch sufferer!! I have been using neem oil on his face and that is keeping the midgers away.

You could put a leather head collar over the top?

a headcollar may be a good idea - although he plays quite rough with his mate so he may decide to unintentionally hang himself...?!

You haven't seen our two 2year old fillies!!! The sports horse takes huge delight in removing the Exmoors fly mask during their play fights - even when I have plaited it in using the loop at the top between her ears!!!

If you do find a way to stop his field mate doing it - please do let me know what the secret is!

We solved the problem by buying a field safe headcolar and putting fly/sun mask under it...nearly always stays on now
