Horses living in turnouts - how do you deal with........??

I was swapping rugs about but stopped as the temperature only really warms up this time of year about 12 noon - 3/4pm and then starts to drop again as dusk sets in. As he's fully clipped I decided getting a little toasty for a few hours won't hurt and better than him him not getting rugged back up due to the grooms forgetting!

I must admit I wouldn't be happy with the YO's decision, and at least I would want a reduction in what I pay but prob be looking to move somewhere else.

Having said that I don't really use stable rugs for George, he goes out in the turnout that is suitable for the daytime temps and the fact he is moving around and he is then ok at night as it is warmer/less windy in his stable. Our YO is more than happy to change rugs, and will always do so if he is wet / sweaty underneath. But it seems to work fine, and assuming he is dry under his rug and its wet it drys in no time at all.

I don't have mega expensive rugs, Mark Todds and Weatherbeetas and they are all breathable. :)

Mine stay in T/O rugs and if its really cold over night, the old one gets an old thermatex on over the top. It only has 1 front strap and a belly strap so its really quickly put on and taken off.
I prefer mine to stay in the turn out rugs over night as I have never seen the sense in taking lovely snug warm rugs off and replacing them with cold ones.
