Our ponies have always lived out and for years we only went down once a day but 2years ago when we got T he needed feeding twice a day so now im in the habit of going down twice a day!
So was just wondering what everyone else did?

I go down once a day usually, but there is a chap who walks the farm dogs twice a day round our gallops and keeps an eye out, and a friend whose horses live in at night in the field next door to mine also keeps an eye out when she's turning out/bringing in.

I go twice a day .... but my neighbours horses all get fed once and day and are more than perfectly happy.

To an extent I think it depends on how big the field is??? If there is a lot of room/different terrains for the horses then I think there is normally something somewhere for them to nibble at and once a day is fine. If it really is completely stripped bare, then probably twice a day is best?

Always twice a day...

What if they injured themselves ten minutes after you left, they'd be injured for 24 hours before we were down again. least if we are done twice they will get any aid quicker.
We don't have anyone else that go near enough to the horses to notice any cuts etc....

Love seeing them so the more i'm down there the better. It breaks up thier day too seeing us and being fussed, rugs moved etc.....

we go at least twice a day, usually more because we tend to do hens and geese at dusk and then go back later to do the horses in order to make sure they have their feeds and hay later in the evening, they are also checked and fed in the morning.

twice without fail - its on a livery yard and ind. grazing and anyone would notice if anything wrong as staff there all day.
Plus i wouldnt sleep if i hadnt been down in case she hurt herself.

Once a day. But the person who owns the field walks down very early every morning, and has a workshop next door, so he keeps an eye out for me. They are too far away for me to go twice a day, worst luck.

Usually once a day but horses are checked about 5 times a day by other liveries as we all go down at different times. If there is anything untoward then we contact relevant owner

Once a day, im on a livery yard, the yard manager is there all day, other liveries come and go at different times, so if anything untoward were to happen i'd get a call. Prime example was last summer, when my boy found a break in the electric fencing and decided to go for a mooch into another field, i soon had a call asking if he should be there :D

I go down and brush, check over, feed if needed, pick feet etc. in the morning. I also check over my friends horse in the same field.
She checks mine for me in the evening.

I only go into the field once a day, but walk my dog passed at least 3/4 times a day and alway check on them. I am very lucky that I have some family and friends that live across the road from them, and they can see them from their windows so you could say they are looked at most hours, and I am only 1 min walk to them.
My other field is 10 min walk away I feed them in the morning and hubby drives past and stops for a quick check, once again very lucky as its a private drive and house owners keep an eye out for me.

I go down once a day in summer, but only because YM lives on site and checks morning and night anyway. If she didnt i'd definitely go down at least twice a day.

twice a day, and sometimes OH goes and checks them in his lunch break as well.
one got cast a while ago and we got a phonecall (luckily) saying there was a horse down, if we went once a day she could potentially have been upside down for 24 hours!

I go down once a day, but he shares a field with a mare who is in at night, so he gets looked on in the morning when owner puts mare out, I come and see him, and then again in the evening when she brings her mare in.

Officially, once a day...but, as they are all practically outside my door then they get seen everytime I go outside, or inside come to think of it, this is from my bedroom window.

The horses in the signature are outside the kitchen window.

I used to go once a day as my horse was on his own, now he's got horsey friends so isn't so lonely. Also there is a huge round bale of hay so I don't need to feed as much and the farmer is about all the time. Plus the cost of petrol!

I would normally go twice a day, but at the moment it's once a day as we've got one car off the road, so my OH is having to give me a lift in to work (other direction) then off to his own work (which can be anywhere). As the land is 7 miles away from home, and I can't get there by public transport, we're having to make do with once a day at the moment, in the evenings - although if OH happens to be working in that area he'll pop in and check them, and at the weekends we're there more often too.

I go twice all year round. The owner goes once, evening, in the summer but sees them from her dog walk in the mornings. She goes twice in the winter.

once but i can see her from my bedroom window so the once is just a physical check and she is looked at all the time cos shes gorgous

Once a day to do chores, feed etc and do whatever I want to do with the horses, and a 'look at' by myself or field owner later on. Girl in field next to mine checks on hers .........maybe twice a WEEK!! Maddens me no end but no one seems to give a damn, especially not her. I look at her horse everyday for my own peace of mind.
