So my lad is pretty good to hack not usually to spooky, has passed several pushchairs in his life all various colours noooo problem, even had one on yard with a baby in which he insisted on giving kisses to

buuuuttttt apparently pushcahirs are NOT supposed to be in the woods! who knew?? went to local woodland on sunday for a lovely hack came across people with a red pushchair....seriously you would think it was going to kill him, dragon snorts,grew 2 hands, bounced liked tigger, attempted to run away then piaffed past it mounting the bank at closest point!!! i mean ... really???

wheres the logic lol!
 
My horses logic: OMG those daffodils weren't there yesterday!!! But it's fine for a stranger to gag open my mouth and rasp my teeth..
 
Push chairs shouldn't be in woods! lol

Horses are very tuned to their environment for their safety, anything unusual or different will provoke a question or worry to varying degree. That's the nature of horses.

Daffodils are ankle biters you know.. seriously ask my old man, they are down right dangerous hahaha;)

sometimes i wonder if its a ploy with our horses and actually they are really clever ?? hehe
 
I have discovered it seems to be weather my horse is paying attention or not if he is on the ball and looking he will walk past anything doesn't care if hes dolly day dreaming mind waders on to grass, oo tree, oooo horsie, ooo thing over there then we get oh dear god where did that grate monster come form its going to eat me!!!!!!
if he's in dolly day dream land he pees his pants at anything just coz he's not looking and this is why his nickname is wimpy britches!
 
In the New Forest there are fenced inclosures with gravel tracks to ride on. My pony, who is excellent in traffic goes into giraffe mode if there are any vehicles in the inclosures and passes them with suspicion. In her mind they are just not supposed to be there!
 
There is a logic in spooking at objects that are out of place. Horses have a very acute visual memory and will remember small details of things they have passed that we probably wouldn't notice.

Can't remember now but its something like building a personal photographic map which enables them to know where they are and also to feel secure that no new threats have appeared in familiar locations. Flight animals have a much keener sense of detail and depend on this for survival.

Imagine you come home one dark night alone. As you approach you see that the curtains are not the way you think you left them that morning. You would be apprehensive, be more alert, and look for any other clues that someone had been in your house while you were away.
Its just the same for horses.
 
How many of us ride one who (unless reminded not to!) would launch themselves under a bus to avoid a crisp packet that looks dodgy! They have horse logic that makes absolute sence to them.............

My favorite, fallen logs are REALLY dangerous - unless they have a red flag on one side and a white flag on the other and you are cantering straight at it!!

Exactly my lads logic, pushchairs should not be in woods they belong on pavements only haha :)
