The freezing cold weather is finally looking like it's over, so iv now taken his neck rugs off hoping his mane will grow back, but so far no luck! Does anyone no any good products? And also has anyone tried coconut oil? I no it's great for human hair but haven't heard a lot about it on horses. If anyone has used it and seen a difference let me no how you have got on. And also if anyone's used anything else let me no. I'm up for anything just want his mane to grow back!! X

I've heard about something called mega tek I think, which is supposed to help... I have a very hirsute cob mare though so have never had to try it lol

Hiya when I got my mare in July she had rubbed all her mane off and it was scabby and sore. I've used nothing but coconut oil on it and her mane is now about 3/4 inch long and nice and thick and soft I was really surprised.

Ooo thanks well I will order some of that and I will also lather him in coconut oil. Gunna give him a bath tomorrow and give him a good scrub, get all of the dead stuff out so new healthy mane can grow back through!
Do you just cover the mane in megatek and leave it in or wash it out out?

I just slap it on and leave it in, but that might not be the right thing to do!

Time is the only thing that will make it regrow and while you can spend a fortune on conditioners and sprays just be aware that that is fact! The rug rubbed it off, you've taken it off, now it will regrow. I don't use a neck on my WB as his fell out at an alarming rate. He lives out in Scotland and has not come to any harm from no neck rug and his mane is growing back in.

I wish I could get away with not putting a hood on him. But he grows hair like no tomorrow and gets to sweaty when ridden. He is also the worlds worse pony to clip, he get 4 lots of sedation to try get it off him without him trying to kill you So I have no choice but to put a hood on him. He wears a mane save hood all winter which does help a lot but he still looses some mane! And your probably right about products it's like human hair there's things you can do to make it stronger but you can't really make it grow with any products! Thanks for you advise! X
