Horses Never Lie by Mark Rashid.

Anyone read this?
I've just finished it and thought it was amazing!

He's a horse trainer from the US, and argues that we should be 'Chosen Leaders' to our horses rather than 'Forced/Dominant Leaders'. Get horses to respect us, rather than fear us!
Really changed the way I interact with my horses.

What does anyone else who's read it think?

You can get it from Amazon.

Yep I've read all his books and think he's a brilliant horseman, he talks alot of common sense and doesn't use gadgets. Wish he'd bring out a new book but enjoy reading his again and again anyway xx

He's right and he's also a relly nice, genuine guy as well.

The dominant horses are never the leaders, they are the bullies. The horses here choose to follow a horse, usually one of the older, more sensible ones. If that horse comes in for shelter, or a drink, etc, then the others will come too. Always useful to know who the 'leader' is when bringing everyone in!

I have that one, and 'A good horse is never a bad colour' think he is fabulous!

yes, its a fab book! I did find it started to get a bit 'airy fairy' in the middle though? overall it was a really good read tho.... i think this will be the next one i read (above) iv heard of it and its sounds like anoother good read:D

Brilliant books.

Ive got 4 of his books, including Horses Never Lie.

I can remember crying in the chapter where his old horse died.

I recommend anyone to read these books who does not wish to be the 'alpha' or to train their horses through domination, rather through common sense and logical approach to common problems faced by the everyday horse and owner.

He just makes a lot of sense!

Yes I loved that book. It completely changed the way I deal with my bolshy gelding. I had read several other books about 'groundwork' and my relationship with my horse was deteriorating. This book totally explained what I had been doing wrong, stressing my horse by trying to bully him when all I had to do was to prove to him I was calm and trustworthy.

I recommend all his books and DVD's. "Finding the try" DVD is really good for learning how important timing is rather than kick, kick, whip etc.

Yes, very interesting man. I've been going to watch him for a few years now, since he first started coming to the UK. Don't think he's back this year though.

I have also got all his books and think he is fantastic. Having read his books, I looked on his website, saw the bits he recommends (which is the only thing he does recommend unlike a lot of trainers who have everything from jackets to saddles), and bought one of the bits. Again, a fantastic and simple concept that works.
