Hi, im just wondering who has their horses out full time now the weather is picking up. I tend to bring mine in if the nighttime temp is in single figures but dont want to chop and change too much. what is everyone else doing?
:)

My girl is out overnight for the first time tonight with a couple of her mates. There's not loads of grass so she has had a big haynet and a feed before going out and will come in for an hour or so in the morning for the same as we aren't allowed hay in our fields. She much prefers to be out though, stops her stiffening up now she is getting older

ETA - I would just pop a 100g turnout on her overnight if it was gonna be a bit chillier one night.

Mine was out for first time out overnight last night and will be for the foreseeable future. He is in his middle weight as it has been -1 or 2 overnight, but soon will be out in his no fill overnight and then nekkid! Not everyone on yard is out 24/7 though.

Mine are out, they are as long as the ground is dry (to protect the ground not them!), they get hay if the grass isn't growing.

mine are even naked tonight as it's 6 degrees overnight here for the next few days.
I'll pop a rug on if the temps dip again later in the week.

They are much happier being able to wander about and I'm happier not mucking out or racing to get up at the crack of dawn to turn them out.

yes, mine are out, as everyone else on the yard turned out overnight last week I have my arm twisted as mine are in seperate bloacks and nothing else is in, they haven't melted or anything! they are happy enough.

Mine have been out at night for the last couple of weeks.

They are coming in during the day to have some hay, and give the grass a chance to come through.

The fields are greening up nicely but can't imagine there will be enough grass to sustain them 24/7 without hay until at least May.

Mine have been out and night and in during the day all winter. They stayed warmer moving and the ground was frozen and therefore mudless! I am a bad mummy but they all survived

Yep, been out for a fortnight now. Still comes in if wet to protect ground, has massive pile of hay but she doesn't seem to eat it. Just dropped hard feed rations too. In lightweight rug over night and naked/rain sheet during day weather depending. Really don't miss doing stables, been a very long winter!
