With my new found confidence and with Ruby behaving so brilliant lately, I decided to go on a new hacking route yesterday evening. We were joined by a friend and her lovely mare. This route involves going through a tunnell that trains pass over. Wasn't sure if she has ever seen a train but thought why not?!so off we set, Ruby leading the way and being fab. Got to the tunnel and it was slightly flooded due to the heavy rain we had on Weds. Ruby was a little nervy so the other Horse led and Ruby followed after (pretty much climbing the walls so she wouldn't get her feet wet!) it was very dark and narrow but both Horses behaved fantastic. It then leads out to huge fields with lots of different tracks. Trotted all the way around the tracks and was heading torwards home. When we heard a train. We stood the Horses still and let them look. Both stood rock still and didn't seem to care. We carried on the track which then runs along side the train track (about 10 metres or so with fencing between us) we decided to have a canter (Ruby hasn't cantered out on a hack properly in about 7 months!) she lead and was absolutly fantastic. Then to my horror heard a train approcahing. It overtook us and guess what?! Ruby didn't even seem to have noticed and carried on cantering along quite happily. She got a huge fuss and then lead back through the tunnel torwards home.
Whats strange about that, I hear you say?
Well on the way home, we met a walker. Ruby planted and snorted and tried to spin. For that walker was carrying a plant!!!
I cannot believe we went through a scary tunnel twice, overtaken by 2 trains, 1 of which was very close and Ruby doesn't bat an eyelid. We come accross a lovely walker holding a plant and Ruby has a meltdown! Silly Hoss!
