horses seasons...how long

daft as it seems iv never owned a mare befoer always had geldings and colts now i find out my mare is bang in season and acting a right tw@t lol can someone shed some light on the time length and anything i can give her for PMT haha

My mare (who is 25 and still as bad for seasons as she was when she was a young lassy!!) she is in for 7 days and then out for 14 days during the summer. A new arrival at the yard can bring her in season at any time whether she has just had a season or not! In the winter when they are supposed to stop seasons she still continues... although we do get a few more weeks in between! In her younger days I had her on regumate to try and regulate her seasons it worked and we did get some relief by using it, although expensive. She can be an extreme pain when in season .... I have now got a gelding .... decided not to get another mare!!
