I am looking for some help/suggestions of things to try for my old horses seperation anxiety. He is 18 and has always turned himself inside out when left alone but used to be at livery so it was never really a big issue. My friend and i have since moved to a yard by ourselves and our 2 horses are in the field and stabled together. Last year was not too bad, if his friend went awayhe would have a wee run around and a shout but was generally ok. He has recently been diagnosed with bone spavin and prior to us finding out he was so lethargic and didnt want to do anything thus when his friend went away he barrely even shouted. All good we thought. He has now had steroid injections and is feeling mighty fine, so now when his friend goes away he literally turns himself inside out and gallops round and round the field screaming. He was feeling great and i have been walking him out but since he went mad he has taken backwaard steps. We cant let him carry on like this but we cant not ride the other horse. There is ponies inthe field next to him and that doesnt console him. I am at a loss at the moment i would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to anything we could try to help this.
Thanks
