Two horses found shot and burnt in Suffolk forest. Someone obviously didn't want them. Poor horses, though possibly best thing since owner such a b*****rd

Is it just me as I cannot see without knowing the circumstances where the cruelty is in the statement.
It may be that if somebody wished to dispose of two carcasses they tried to burn them( its not cheap to dispose of legally) . I dont think anybody is implying they were burnt and then shot. A lot better to shoot them than just abandon them in my opinion.

……...

No, you're not alone. Providing that the destruction of the horses was instant, as shooting should be, then the only offence committed would have been the responsibility to dispose of the carcasses satisfactorily. Yet again, the equine charities having badgered Government to tighten the regulations regarding equine disposal have, rather than lessening a problem, created one.

but wouldn't it be more distressing to see them dying emaciated in a field. although it is hard to hear and obviously in an ideal world all horses would be in a warm fluffy home. that is not reality. and so long as the animals were shot humanely i see no real issue in what has happened here

There's plenty dying in fields all over the country. The general public has become inured to it.

When I found out from my mum who was absolutely disgusted, I did comment if they were disposed of humanely, for whatever reason, I see that as a far kinder fate than some potential situations as described above.

However, I think what is concerning is that 1, they have been burnt, and 2, they have been dumped/disposed of illegally. And also as my mum put it... Who is to say that the gun was used appropriately to do the deed correctly without causing additional trauma or pain to the horses?
