Horses siblings

Not around my place! Of my two original Irish Draught mares, 1 had 6 foals by my stallion before I lost her - the other had 9 by the same stallion - her ast foal was by another much smaller stallion to make life easier for her. Several daughters of those mares are now in my breeding herd - Dawn has had 6 foals to date - all by Avanti Amorous Archie and she is going back to him this year. Another had one by a stallion I stood for 1 season only, then 3 by Archie, then 2 by my little stallion - but is going back to Archie this year.

Another unrelated mare had 4 by Raj - all fillies and very nice. But the next year she was being a tit about being covered naturally so we AI'd her to Archie and had a stunning colt so she's been back to him 3 times now.

It's always a bit tempting to try something different - but if you're very happy with the progeny of the stallion you've used, there's obviously a risk in trying something different!

No - I used the same stallion three times because I got such a good result. Still have two of the offspring.

sport horse breeders often do it, think Cassini I, Cassini II, and Capitol I, Capitol II, Capitol III etc.

My old TB had a full sister, neither of them were very good racehorses despite their fantastic breeding, she sold for about 60,000euro, my gelding for a lot less! ;-)

The 2 in my sig are full brother and sister, Trevoulter Silver Arrow and TS Replica, there is also TS King, TS Dazzle & TS Express. All full siblings.

My boy has two full sisters, his dam had a year off last year, and is back in foal for next year for another full sibling.

Funnily enough both fillies are much more like their dam, and Blitz is very much like his sire.

We bred many full siblings, our boys dam had 4 full siblings 2 were almost twins they were so similar, only 2 living now sadly. One of our Tb mares has 2 full siblings one a ex coloured racehorse the other learning to event, we have another TB mare in foal for another full sibling to last years coloured filly, we have retained for racing.

Spud and Felixs sire and dam were very much husband and wife, and very much a love match. They had two fillies together, I believe, and several colts. The breeder did try her with another stallion but she just wasn't interested.

An interesting reply. My CB stallion and mare Rosemary have produced three foals (one we lost) she is in foal to him again. They too are a real love match. He will cover other mares but Rosie is his favourite.
