sorry if this has been done before...

I was just wondering though what weird habits your horses have...

Mine likes to bite his ergots off and eat them...

mine bangs his chin on his stable door and gulps air... and if you block his door he fits his chin in the fold of his haynet and pulls back then gulps the air!!!!

If you shout at Lottie she ignores you . . .

Then stands on your foot.

Ice does yoga in a morning at the same time every day.

1 girl on our yard has a horse that poops everytime you tie it up!!

i have a few weird and wonderful habits between my lot.....I have one who throws his bucket out the door and makes as much noise as possible when he knows it is food time....I have one that has learnt the art of rolling underneath the fence to pastures new....I have one that likes to have his mouth blown in to....strange creatures some of these...

An old horse of mine use to stand on three legs whilst eating her dinner and wouldn't put it down until she had finished every last morsel... she always raised her front left foot, almost as if she was saying thank you lol

Nas likes me blowing into his mouth as well, it started when i gave him a mint on the way down to the field, he was facing the wind and opened his mouth wide... i tried to video it...

oh and i tried and airzuka thing on him, once he got past the noide he quite liked it.

My lad did had his moments - it used to make a few people giggle with managing to open ANY door/gate even with ropes and clips on he would get out but whenever it was feed time, morning or night, he used to get VERY excited. First he would pull a face of pure evil - like i was going to take it away from him, then his face would disapear into the bucket and his little, ahem, "man" would pop out and it wouldnt go away untill he had eaten. Little rudey!!

Snorting at my wellies like a stallion when I am plaiting up ! It really freaks me out .... thought it must be the rubber but then she did it onece when i was sat in the field eating crisps wearing flip flops ... maybe I have really smelly feet !! !

On Sunday he pinched my schooling whip off me after I got off him.

Last night he snached my lunge whip of me.

(I'm sure he's going to beat me with it one of these days!) :D

Kicks his tyre around his stable (tyre was there to stop him kicking his bucket around)

Twangs the electric fencing with peices of twig (tests to see if it's on)

Mutters to you all the time under his breath, specially if you ignore him, doesn't like me going in the next stable to see to the other horse, twiches his lips all the time.

Anything within his reach (head collars/leadropes) that are hung on a proper hook on the stable door, he slides along and removes everything, or if he's tied up, he takes everything off it then graps the hook in his teeth, lifts it over the top of the door and throws it on the floor (which is why I move it out of his way now).

When you walk up to the field my mare stares at you, sometimes comes to you but sometimes decides to be difficult  I then have to make the effort to go to her majesty and every step I take she whickers- and I mean every step! By the time I get to her and toucher her she's still whickering...mares!

Creeping up on you and tugging the back of your jumper (he loves hoods) and then running off, when turned out loose.

If he has to stand still for more than 2min whilst you are on him - getting hold of the end of my whip and trying to snatch it if I have it in reach, or putting his lips round my boot/toes when my feet are in the stirrups!!! really good job he never bites...

Oh and gazing at himself lovingly in ANY reflective surface he can find especially the mirrors in the school.

Mine puts her teeth round my arm every morning when I try to open her door with the feed bucket. She took her halter off the hook and threw it on the ground this morning as a way of showing me that it was time to go out.

Mine does this too - however I think she's more likely saying 'the food is MINE!!' Lol!

One of ours at work has to poo when you change his rug, literally every time! You take one rug off, and he poos, let him finish, put next rug on.

My mare will purposely stand on your foot if she's annoyed with you. She has an impressive aim but thankfully I'm quicker than her most of the time now!

The Shetland at work is also usually found with her head in something where it shouldn't be, usually a handbag! Not neccessarily a weird habit, just a hilarious one!!!

Puzzle loveesss it when you blow lightly into her nostrils and will present her shnoz to you for blowing! She also loves chewing on your hand-I fold my whole fist into a ball and she basically gums it for ages!!

Bruce likes having his nostrils 'blown'....lol! Proper huffs back at you, like we're having a huffing contest.

Gives you a nudge with his nose, points at part of himself = demanding you scritch and scratch his itchy spot!! He does give my hair a groom in return though which is sweet.

If you produce his face mask for the field, he scrunches up his eyes as soon as it goes near his face, so cute!!

Star makes a little dent in the middle of anything he eats....be it haylage or hard feet....shoves his face right into the middle of it and makes a huge hole!!

My little section B I had when I was younger, used to help me muck out and had full control of the fork on a poop scoop!!

We used to have a DWB mare that pulled the electric fencing posts out by lifting them out and carefully placing them on the ground....

I have a very weird anglo arab and he likes to:

pick off his chestnuts when you stretch his front legs

lick, for hours. literally, he has a salt lick which he also licks but he also licks walls, doors, people, clothes anything he can!

everytime i wear a pair of unexpected shoes like trainers up to the yard, he loves to sniff them for ages making little quiet grunting noises like a guinea pig? then he starts to lick them.

loves to sniff poo (luckily he does not lick that!)

when he sees the feed coming in the morning he will always pee then stretch like a cat with his bum in the air

he likes to have his gums rubbed too!

It's all very strange, I still can't decide if he has genuine mental issues or is just very strange! :)

Chloe will stand on 3 legs waving a front hoof in the air whilst eating hard feed or haylage and as soon as the off front hits the foot the near side front hoof comes up and starts waving around, and she dances like this through all her haylage and hard feed.
Dixie has to close the gates with his teeth or he stands there with a miserable face. also he takes a good drink then holds the last lot in his month till you are close enough and he will spit it at you, and he can lick for a living, also if you have a hood on your clothing and you ignore him he will grab the hood and pull you.
Phoenix and major like to chuck their feed buckets over he fence at you after you finish poo picking as they know its feed time then.
Remmie spends the whole time eating her hard feed kicking the feed bucket alternatively with her front hooves
Minnie likes to tip her bucket a bit and roll it around whilst eating.
Thanks all i can think of for now

He likes cats.
Like really likes cats.

OH's mare sticks her nose in the air when I try to put her bit in (I am short and can't reach) - she won't lower her head until she receives a good chin scratch - that's the contract :D

She doesn't do it with OH coz he's taller and it doesn't work

This was supposed to be the accompanying photo, but clearly I fail at the internet.

Cats really like him!!!!! Awwww :)

Mine has quite a bad habit of snorting in peoples faces. Once snorted twice shy but sometimes I forget to tell people and they think he's horrid.

My elderly gelding does a reverse weave - he weaves his back end - slamming one side on the wall, then when he's go a good rhythm going he starts to nod his head as well. But not in time with his arse....it's like he's got two tunes going on in his head. He normally only does it when he's in the stable, but it can also be a bit disconcerting when he's doing it in the back of a 3.5tonne horsebox!...

My girl stands on three legs when she eats her hard feed too, she also does it when asked to stand at junctions out hacking sometimes lol i thought it was quite odd but seems like a few others do the same. She has taken to grabbing my hat off my head recently, thankfully no hair has gone with it yet!

My mare has a habbit of putting her head on top of mine and keeping it there? I will be grooming or talking to a friend with my back turned near her neck.. The next minute she puts her head on top of mine and tries to keep it there .. It's quite funny but it hurts as she likes to rest it there lol I have to move away and then her head comes back to normal height lol.. Silly mare!!
