Horses with funny/strange habits?

The horse I ride at my stables is obsessed with kicking over barrels/cones, especially when we do horse games/barrel racing at xmas or on adult horse/pony days. She also does it when we use barrels/cones in the lesson - even when i pass them from far away, she makes a beeline for them.
The same horse also loves looking in the mirror (our indoor school has mirrors on the 2 short sides)
Also she turns around and chews either your foot or the stirup when we're in the middle of the school or in one of the corners standing or have stopped, she does make me laugh!

Anyone elses horse have any other funny habbits?
 
If you tell old dear off by raising your voice she will look you in the eye and stand on your foot. No shifting her till you apologise and cuddle or pat her.
 
one of mine sighs a lot, always when you are telling him off or trying to get him to do something, he always obliges but sighs in a most teenager-like way
 
one stands on things to make herself taller also tries to climb over fences, the other when shes finishes her food puts her feed bowl in the water trough, or lobs it away

ahah! my horses drink out of any bucket bar black
but the boy loves blue buckets, while the girl loves pink! and both will drag you over to a bucket of this colour if they see one!!!!

this isnt their only oddity......i dont even class it as one :/ , but they have to many to list
 
Whilst I'm doing his front feet, mine will virtually bow down to try for kisses: he looks all coy and cute like he's looking to see what I'm doing and demands cuddles.
 
When his feet are being done, our NF loves to shove his nose into the farrier's back if he exposes any flesh. Is almost embarassing. He also likes to play with shoelaces/velcro, this can be annoying if you haven't noticed and it's muddy...and if the back door is open he will walk in. If he's gone through the electric fence into the hay barn, he will hide, forgetting he'll be in view when you walk down there, so he then looks sheepish and pretends he ISN'T in the barn.
 
When i lead my mare in/ out the barn she always stops dead has a good glare round in giraffe pose....im sure she checking that there is no lions out there to get her.
 
An old pony I knew who had been and done it all, would squeeze you into the corner when doing her girth and stand on your foot. The other slightly scarier thing she did with a new rider was to tank off. If you tried to stop her she would go faster, if you gave her her head and kicked her on, you could then bring her back. It was quite scary watching my (much younger) friend not take the advice and get carted with her :eek: but she only did it once with each rider :o
 
My lad walks along sniffing the road/path (if I let him), he also stands on the bottom rail of gates and tries to bounce them open, twangs elastic in jackets, carries things in his mouth, to name just a few, he's what's called a CHARACTER
 
After eating his feed or being given a treat my Lad has to lick the gate, fence or stable door for about 5 minutes. If he is forced to move away from the gate/ fence/ door then he points his toe out and licks his front leg. It's almost OCD behaviour as he moves back and forth along the fence in either direction. It's almost like he's counting the number of licks he makes. Any ideas why?!
 
One of the racehorses always has to stretch when you go to do her girth up. I really dislike tacking this horse up (not often as I don't ride her) because we wrap fresh cloths around the girth each time and the cloth ALWAYS falls off!!! So fustrating you have to go and re-wrap it!
 
My mare alway rubs her head against me and I recently saw a horse psychic with her who mentioned the head rubbing and said she was trying to tell me her ears were itchy! So now when she does it I scratch the inside of her ears and she loves it - will stand for ages getting it done! It's so cute!
 
Twit will Play with his feed bucket - throwing it about the stable /rubbing it up against the walls of the stable after his feed - only stops after someone shouts at him.

Boring I know but It makes me laugh seeing as he only does it for attention and someone always falls for it .. :rolleyes:
 
When I got him, my gelding was not very well schooled but had quite a wide "vocabulary" of voice commands. He still obeys verbal commands readily but only if you precede the instruction with his name eg "Dobbin, stand", "Dobbin, walk on", etc., rather than "do this", "do that"!

(No, his name isn't really "Dobbin" :) )
 
As soon as my horse sees me bringing his tack out, he yawns and yawns as if to tell me that he's far too tired to go for a ride and would much prefer to go back out into the field! He used to empty water buckets in his stable quite often and then throw them over the door. I'm sure there's loads more but can't think at the minute!
 
My mare will always prefer to wee in her stable rather than outside and ALWAYS in the same spot which is amusing and handy. You put her in her stable, she takes a mouthful of hay, loops round and pee's in the corner. EVERYTIME GUARANTEED :p
 
When I take my pb welsh cob mare's rug off in the stable she just HAS to rub her bum all along the walls!!! Then she rubs her face up and down on her haynet or me if I don't get out of the way in time! My haffie always raises and points one of his front toes whilst weeing! He looks very funny indeed!! What lovely characters they all are!!
 
One of my 3 1/2 year old Shire geldings does a very odd thing after he has his morning meal. Now, I know horses can't breathe through their mouths, but he blows "raspberries" with his lips. I heard this sound several months ago and couldn't figure out from where it was coming. Then my boy walked over to me and did it. Whether he's just vibrating his lips, or pushing his tongue against his lips, I don't know. He even did it when the vet was out for another horse. The vet said he's never seen or heard such a thing.

My late Clyde loved having the inside of his ears scratched. He'd walk over and lower his massive head to my hand level and just wait. I never disappointed him.
