anyhoo i walked him out in hand for about 15-20mins took him back in the puffyness was gone as was most of the heat

since we've had him (beginning of dec) hes been sound as a pound

slightly worried due to taking him to uni end of the month and theres no turnout ...

i wldnt might bandaging him up but am bit

I wouldn't worry to be honest. My old hunter who did a tendon and ended up with a serious low bow to his leg always got puffy, slightly warm legs when stood in. I'd bandage him overnight or if travelling a long way. As long as your horse can have a leg stretch or ideally longer out and about then the swelling will go down and the circulation going a bit better again.

phew..... was getting bit arghh what with my other one.

mmmm might have to talk to yard manager at college about use of the horse walker maybe?? say 15mins in the morning when mucking out then ridden everyday....

I've had a few tbs with tendon injurys and found that any significant injury will always swell slightly and be warm if horse is stabled. I wouldn't worry about it as long as the horse has had sufficent rest after the injury and has had a long slow fittening program. How long ago did your horse have his tendon damage and what do you do with him now?

oh he did a while back ...... when racing had time off and was brought bk bout 6 months ago i think.... just couldnt cope with the galloping etc.. anymore so trainer sold him

now hes just pottering about hacking till his teeth are done then he'll start with dressage and sj and see how he takes and copes with it all and hopefully lightly event

sounds like he'll be okay with that, just make sure that you keep him fairly fit and avoid anything too strenuous. I think tendon injuries can take longer than a year to recover as much as they are going to so be careful. I wouldn't worry about the swelling at night as long as its only slight and dosen't get any worse. Good luck with him in the future.
