Hi everyone

I have just been reading some old posts about horses and Australia. Im mid way through getting a visa to move to either Melbourne or Brisbane and wondered if anyone can give me an overview on what to expect. When I have been able to ride in Australia I have only been able to get trecking horses and to be honest while its ok for holiday its not what im used to.

I currently have a warmblood that im doing some affiliated on at the moment and wondered if this happens over there at all and if there are any decent showjumping yards and horses available. Also do people only sell horses or do you find any decent ones to loan.

Any advice would be great as im worrying about loosing horse riding in my life altogether.

thanks xx

Hi ! Based on my gap year experience working as a groom for a top Australian showjumper close to Sydney, showjumping in Australia is of a very high standard and there are plenty of quality horses, yards , trainers and competitions around the country. It is worth noting though that the uk´s "horse loan" culture is virtually non existent there. If you would like to train and compete at an affiliated level, you will need to invest in your own horse. Horsedeals.com.au and horsezone.com.au are widely used and will give you an idea of the horses available, prices etc. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a PM!
