My A&E horse related was when I was dumped at a water tray at a show 3 times, spent the day with foot in water bucket, and finally went to hospital 9 hours later after getting pony home and sorted, as it had swollen so much only to find it was broken, still dont know if I broke it on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd fall!
My near A&E (sorted by G.P) experience, was when leading pony down the road that was spooked by a push bike and bolted, I didnt let go as there was a main road at the end, so was dragged approx 50 yards, which resulted in one split school skirt and my hip bone showing.
Have visted a & e lots of times with friends & family on non horse related accidents! the last one with my son who managed to get superglue on his eye,(luckly no lasting damage)

Does this count?

Drove my girls to riding lesson today, 3 elderly non horsey members of my family came to watch and decided to help.

Result pony riding round with no bit in her mouth, other pony dragging me out of the trailer and Iv'e hurt my back.
My dad locking padlock to gate over on it self to leaving my mum who was locking up with no keys to open padlock, I had to drive back with my keys to open padlock.

Then my aunt shut daughter number 1's fingers in the boot! DH and Daughter now sitting in A & E.

Honestly it was like national lampoons horse riding lesson tonight!

Waiting to hear from Hubby.

This summer, the Spooky Pony got his first ever show-jumping rosette!! ... in a cross-pole class. :o :D

Wey Hey, Well Done, go you :D x

Nick - Oh dear not good. Well Done for hanging on :D x

Isobelle - Awwwwww thank you so much, that so nice of you. xxxxxxxxx <<<<Bigs Hugs>>>>>> :D:D:D

Pipstar- Oh know, so sorry to hear this, hope everyone ok. Yes it does count! xx

For broken wrist and nose after going in the ring to do a SJ class when I was younger after winning the equitation. As soon as they opened arena string up pony bolted accross and tried to jump over and got stuck half way.
Also when I fell off and hit my head on a crosspole and got a black eye (only jumping just over 2ft at the time!) and when my pony got spooked in the dark and knocked me over and hurt my wrist. Luckily it was just sprained.

Yes - Fell out of bed last august and hurt my foot - then went on a 3 hour hack straight after and came back with broken toes and a huge bruised shin. A year later the bruise is still there and I am a medical mystery according to a top consultant. Did think it was that bad til I took riding boot off

The again the same foot - fell off a horse last decemember - same foot was hurting and I got back on and trotted, cantered walked another couple of miles home with tears rolling down my face in pain. then drove home all the way in 2nd gear about 10 miles and took boot off - friend took me straight to A and E - cue one broken foot and 3 weeks in a cast.

The most grim one was having metres of lunge rope pulled through my hands years and years ago. horse was a complete nutcase and I couldnt hold it. Had blisters on my hand didnt think anything of it until I was in the pub and someone said oh your hand gone green - was driven straight to A and e lol

Pipstar sounds like a day to forget, hope daughters finger is ok.
How did the actual lesson go?

She has an absolute fantastic lesson too! was on a real high! Really focused for a show on Sunday then this! I have just had to do her homework for tomorrow lol.

Thanks for asking.

I've broken and dislocated my finger - it still looks very wonky 8 years later!
Torn. sprained and bruised knees, ankle's and shoulders quite a few times, only once it wasn't horse related.
Been in a car accident, bruised, banged and concussed.
Been concussed too many times to mention.
But, the mother of all A&E visits for me happened on the 2nd Jan 1998. I was walking on one of my old horses, a bay TB mare called Bella along Studland beach. It was our RC 'christmas' ride. Only been there about 10 mins, and apparently she just fell. I was unconcious for 8 hours, have no memory of that day. I was blue lighted to Poole hospital.. they even radio'd ahead to hold the harbour ferry for us. Turned out I had fractured my skull. 2 nights in hospital and 3 weeks later I was back to normal. I have a dent in my head to remind me of that day! And yep, I was wearing a hat! (a good one too)

My god, your first one i nearly couldn't read, you were very lucky, 2nd one :D sorry shouldn't laugh but that was just lucky you had your hat on!!

Applecart - :( Awwww not good at all. Hope you are ok. Good Luck Sunday :D OMG:eek: got XC saturday i better not come on saturday and tell you i am in A&E. Please Please No!!

Ha Horsecrazy25 I am thinking we will both survive our XC exploits this weekend. Just for the record I intend to stay on this time! LOL xxx

OMG, you poor women, Hope you are ok, <<Hugs>> had a very lucky escape!! xx

Applecart - Yes, and hopefully we will both report happy with no broken bones!! Awwww bless, you'll be fine xx

Lol:D Awwww bless, were they all in 21 different accidents, or some quiet a few bones in one accident? xx

I've had two "big" accidents with more than one bone but it is mostly a combination of evil ponies/TB's, not knowing when to quit and an inability to bounce !! :D

I've only been to a&e 3 times in life that wasnt horse related and have been so many times with horse acidents its unreal. Last time I was in they informed me I have been in to a&e 7 times this year with horse related accidents. lol.

I have never broken anything yet, but have had concussion, whip lash and plenty of bruised internal organs and damaged my pelvis last year.

I have been crushed against a post in the field, ran over by a very big warmblood, knocked over when I tried to stop my horse running onto the main dual carriageway and smashed my head and face against so many school fences its been unreal. Can you tell I always land on my head :P

I think I've been lucky really as only been to A&E twice in 40 plus years of riding but all my serious injuries have been from same horse!

Nearly three years ago, as a two year old, baby cob Kenz kicked me straight in the face. Was late one Saturday eve, on my own, in the dark with scatty Dalmatian in isolated yard. I remember picking myself up from the mud under other cob's feet where I'ld landed and thinking perhaps it wasn't so bad after all and then spitting out one tooth in true cowboy style and then running my tongue round my other teeth to discover that my top four front teeth where embedded in the roof of my mouth. I couldn't get hold of anybody on my mobile (turned out they were all in the pub in the village and heard the ambulance go by and wondered what was happening!) and didn't want to call an ambulance myself as couldn't talk very clearly and yard was complicated to give directions to at the best of times. Eventually my son saw he had a missed call from me and he and my ex-husband came to my rescue (after I had shut horses back into field, locked tack room and walked back over railwayline to car with dog-think adrenaline had kicked in as was even debating driving myself home!) They called the ambulance but despite coming from farther away got there before it did but they flagged it down and paramedic had a quick look at me and said not to bother with local A&E but to go straight to hospital in Brighton, so thats where my ex took me, with me bleeding quietly over his leather seats!
Staff at A&E said I was the only one sober in the dept-well to be expected on a Saturday night in Brighton I suppose! Turned out I had fractured upper jaw, nose and both cheekbones. Six hours of reconstructive surgery and £3k of dental work later still have numbness and pain on left side and definitely look different too.
Same horse manged to damage a finger while teaching him to load - doesn't really count as didn't go to A&E but had to have ring cut off as finger swelled so much and very painful.
Then last year same horse (broken and all going well) bucked me off three times for no apparent reason (all usual things checked and ok) the third time in November with such force I ended up outside the school in adjoining field. After a while lying on my back watching the clouds managed to get up and catch him. My friend helped me untack him and we had a reviving cup of tea before I walked across the field to turn him out and then drove home. Had a nice hot bath to see if that would settle things, it didn't so daughter drove me to A&E. Triage nurse wasn't too bothered and sent me off to sit in waiting room with a couple of ibuprofen. Eventually Dr called me in and very soon I was lying immobolised on a spinal board! Xrays showed I had fractured a vertebrae at about bra strap level (sorry can't remember correct name for it) While I was lying on board Dr was doing some other tests and I was saying things like 'no, can't feel that as that where horse kicked me before but thats normal for me' and Dr looked a bit surprised and said was this all the same horse to which my lovely daughter replied 'yes it bloody was!'

7 times  awwww bless. Lucky with no broken bones yet then!!! Oh dear, your head must be indestructible x <Hugs> x

Been carted off to A&E more times than I can remember but here's a few of them:
Aged about 9 pony bucked me off straight into barbed wire fence, as fence was well and truely lodged in back of legs had to be cut either side and removed in hospital.
Kicked in the head and fractured skull.
Fell off jumping, knocked out and broken coccyx, this was made a whole lot worse by firstly getting on same horse 2 weeks later (I was banned from riding for at least 6 weeks) getting hooked by stirrup on yard gate (long story) and coming off again and yes re-breaking coccyx, secondly it was the same paramedic crew that had picked me up 2 weeks previous, they have since picked me up for a third time - from same horse - with suspected broken hip (it wasn't) and I still have the horse :D
Trampled by shire x 4 years ago foot & ankle looked a complete mess but not to many breaks couple of toes but severed quite a few nerves, foot still a bit of a funny colour and have no feeling across the top of it.
Various other breaks, bruises, strains but I think I'll stop there as am begining to wonder why I go near horses !!!! :p;)

The only time I can actually remember is when I was 12/13.
I had taken my share horse XC, he was a weird horse as in he would be perfectly fine doing something and then all of a sudden decide he wasn't going to do it anymore. Anyway we (this is what I've been told I don't actually remember the accident) were coming up to a 3' log which we had jumped many times before only this time he decided he wasn't going to do it. He slammed the brakes on, stuck his head on the floor and bucked me off straight over his head. I landed back first on the jump and I pretty much folded myself in half backwards - it was only my head slamming on the ground which stopped me from breaking my back! At this point I was unconscious so I have no idea of how I got to A&E but I just remember waking up strapped to a spinal board with half the yard round me making sure I was OK! Turned out I was very bruised and concussed but thankfully nothing broken!
