Who'd have them? Boomer has just gone lame out on a hack.

All he's done is stood on a flint and has taken a bit of his sole away, but he's quite sore so I had to walk him all the way home

And, of course, it would be a few days before I'm taking him showjumping.

Do you think he'll be OK to go on Saturday? He's not lame until he stands on another hard thing and then he goes hopping lame for a few strides, and then he is sound again. It doesn't look bad, it's just white where the sole has been taken off. Obviously, if he is still sore at all or showing lameness friday evening/saturday morning he wont be going, but I just wondered whether it sounds like he'll be ok?

Oh yes, and then on the way back me and my mum swapped so I rode Tinker (her 17hh) and she lead Boomer, and then once we had got back to the yard and were walking up the aisles to the fields all of the horses were galloping about, so Tinker took me by surprise and cantered off. I just couldn't stop laughing so my arms went like jelly and I had no chance of stopping him. He did stop at the end of the aisle though

Bless him, he never goes fast, but he's like a train and just doesn't stop

Speak to your farrier - may be worth you getting a pad put on to protect his foot until it has had chance to settle down more and then I would have thought you should get away with jumping him if it is only a minor injury.
