Just wondering. Has anyone got a horse through them? Was it an ok experience? Did they make you jump through many hoops?
I am thinking of going to see a horse being rehomed through them. It is for permanent re homing. It looks nice and I like the idea that the owner really wouldn't have any reason to lie as they just have the horses welfare in mind not financial gain. Just wondering if there are any negatives I won't have thought of.
Thanks!

Sorry I just had one fail the vetting on H4H also owner would not let me ride it. Hope it is not the one I went to see as it was lame and also needs to be restarted.

HGA-12 that's a shame. Is it ok for me to ask the area you saw the horse in? Was it in Wales?
Does anyone know if I'm allowed to share the link of the horse I'm thinking about?
thanks :)

I've just helped someone rehome through them, it's fairly straightforward although you have to give references and can be home checked if the owner wants.

Will be watching this thread. I've got one that I may rehome but my concern would be the quality of the riders taking on these horses. Do they know what they are doing? Invariably the horses going for free are going to be quirky and that requires knowledge on how to deal with it. That's what's holding me back from listing at the moment. For me, as a (potential) owner releasing a horse, it is not about the money at all. I don't care about that. It's wanting to be sure that whoever takes on a horse has the experience to deal with inevitable quirks, such as behaviour, age and/or soundness. I like that the vetting process goes all ways! Horse, old owner and new owners!

Hi, I rehomed a gelding, T, through Horses4Homes just over a year ago. I didn't feel that I had to jump through any unnecessary hoops, although be aware that if you work, homechecks can only be performed between 9am and about 2pm, so this can be a little inconvenient. T is going through a serious stage of the Kevins right now, but this is age-related rather than due to any sinister underlying issues (he's had back, saddle, teeth etc. checked). The person I re-homed T from was incredibly honest, and even allowed us full use of her holiday let and all equestrian facilities for the bank holiday weekend that we visited (we flew over to Ireland to see him). She remains on hand if we ever need her, and we stay in touch via Facebook. Would I re-home from them again? Yes, a thousand times over.
