Horseware Mio rugs, waterproof?

Apologies if this has been done before, but are Horseware Mio rugs actually waterproof (600 denier)?

I am at my wits end with a rug destroyer however, Horseware fit him well so tempted by one of these at < £90 for a 350g combo.

He is never out for more than about 6 hours a day in the winter as he'd rather come in , so won't be subjected to prolonged torrential rain etc.

I have seen on here that Gallop are super economical but worried they'll be too broad across the chest.

600 denier will be shower proof at best. You need a minimum of 1200 denier for a rug to be waterproof.

I had some medium weight mios which were great but the no fill was never waterproof

The Mio I had wasn't particularly great, so its a no from me.

I had a no fill that was showerproof at best, it is now repurposed as a stable rug, it was that ineffective as a turnout

I’ve inherited a Hero Amigo combo 200gm rug which is 600D and seems waterproof. Horse is out over night and staying dry.

I too have had an Amigo Hero 600D that was completely waterproof, lasted about three winters before it needed attention. Maybe the weave on the Mio's just isn't the same.

Even if waterproof, I reckon a 600d rug would last 5 mins with a rug wrecker.

That may be true but he has so far destroyed my Rambo Optimo (luckily the liner was OK) and a 1200d Rhino Wug so I really am reluctant to buy anything half decent .

Similar fit to Amigo but with much more adjustability in the front fastenings. I've found the Mios to be inferior to other Amigo rugs and tore really easily, even on horses which are not normally rug wreckers.

Mine have been - but they're usually wrecked before they get washed, so no idea if they would stay waterproof once washed. Last a winter or thereabouts - our horses live out.
