:D

Would be interested in your pics too :D

No way i'd drag my ass up onto my horses back, my balance is rubbish on 2 feet lol! Horse looks happy enough!

Isnt valuting all about horsey acrobatics?

Hi Lex!! According to some...26 pages in another thread (now closed) ....teenagers playing around on their horses is detrimental to its welfare.

I am sure you agree we should call the RSPCA over this dispicable case of "teenagerhavingfunonhorseitious"

:D

Why? I don't understand how this horse could possibly be in anyway abused or its welfare under threat?

Child should have a hat on and horse should be held by someone else but thats a whole other debate and lets not go into that.

Horse looks throughly bored...

LOL child should probably have shoes on too :D

I am being sarcastic BTW - just trying to prove that kids have fun all the time without compromising their horses welfare (as mentioned on another thread)

Surely it is how they learn?

LOL think mare was pooped after schooling session and wanted to go back to her slim fast!!!

I would say the welfare is being compromised in this case R2R.

You only have to take one look at that poor horses face, pure embarassment!....''just get this kid off me please''! :D

She is a classy lady that mare so no doubt she is. It is the best, most honest mare you could hope to meet. FYI that is the mare with the child whose parents wouldnt buy - thankfully they actually did so Michael (acrobat) is now her proud owner :D

She has had a foal by Utah Van Erpekom who I also have - he is a dudle and if the fact he jumps out of every field I put him in is anything to go by - will be as kind as his mother and springy as his dad :D

go boy go!nice to see a lad having fun, certainly no abuse to the horse, the lad is no heavyweight, got good balance, and the horse is no lightweight. never mind all the safety gear, kids learn like this and i say good luck to you, boyo!!

rosie, have to agree, this is a light hearted thread :D

God, when i look back at they had us doing in riding lessons all those years ago, this looks quite tame ! Anyone have to do round the world at canter ? Those "instructors" were nuts.

Not the best ones :D

Wow... "round the world", that brings back memories! Not done that in YEARS!!

Might have to do some cantering round the worlds tonight. Bet i'd end up on my a$$ on the ground! I had such better balance as a kid lol!

And these are the kids on my yard…with my old horse. I am sure you agree they all look like welfare being compromised ;) in honestly I moan about them but am glad that they have the ‘horsey upbringing’ they do…I think you will agree they all look happy!!

We used to do all sorts when I was learning to ride (but we did have to keep our hats on) and I did loads with out a hat bareback jumping and galloping etc on my own horse when no one was looking...

I don't think you are supposed to have shoes on for vaulting and standing on saddles because it scratches the saddle... Te he he... No seriously you are supposed to have a better grip without shoes I think...

can we not leave the safety issues be,just for once?

I'm not the slightest bit bothered about it TBH..crikey, things we used to do as kids....
I remember once we tied 2 ponies together with baler twine by their girths and got them to tow a car bonnet around the field with 4 of us sat on the up turned bonnet..great fun...

yes,did all that, and all sorts of other non pc acrobatics, brilliant for balance and never came to grief- i have pics. of myself lying on horses, no tack, no hat, just a grotty jacket and wellies----great!!

Lovely mare! Don't think anything worse than her pride is being damaged! God we used to do this all the time when I was younger, also round the world :D

I did read the other thread, and, although the teenager concerned was a little 'bolshy', I do think that there was some bandwagon jumping going on towards the end with people who had no right to comment about anyone else's jumping ability putting their oar in :( I felt very sorry for the OP by the end of it.

PS: Lovely foal!

Lovely ponies! Especially your foal

I read the other post and agree entirely with the point you're making. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about either We used to do all sorts to our ponies and they never seemed bothered. We used to tie a tyre to the shettty and make her drag us round the field in it. We stood on her, rode her two at a time. All sorts. Hardly a job for the RSPCA though!
