i have had my mare for around 2 months and having 2nd thoughts she is far to big for me now but i adore her so much but think she needs a better rider than me because i have over horsed myself its nothing she has done. i baught her because my friend didnt want her no more and didnt really care where she went and i couldnt let that happen but sadly im thinking to either sell her or swap her but i know that finding her a forver home may not be so easy.

Im reluctant to let her go but i cannot afford two horses and i really want to show etc where as she is more of jumper/dressage/xc.. any advice be nice thanks

You say she's done nothing wrong but you are overhorsed ... can you elaborate on how and why things suddenly seem to have changed in the last 2 months? Also, is she a young horse (and how can she be too big for you now when she wasn't when you bought her?)? What is making keeping this horse so difficult?
It sounds like you've lost your confidence :( but if you can't afford two horses then the obvious solution would be to sell her. However you could loan or share her instead if you'd rather not let her go.

She plants her feet with me in the school she just wont work properly i have tried everything. im 5ft1 and she is 16.2 and i feel i cant ride her as well as she should be. my friend gets on her and she goes perfectly for her. i just cant seem to do her justice i took her to a show on sunday and she just planted her feet in the arena and wouldnt move. no i baught her because i love her so much i knew she was a big horse but i thought id be fine.. she had been loaned out before and she had bad experience and i think i have lost my confidence :( x

Is she too big, or is she just too much of a handful for you? Is she young/inexperienced? Have you had anyone helping you - eg an instructor?

You needn't sell her on (if you don't want to) yet as there are many options for you. Have you had any lessons with her with a good instructor or experienced friend? If she went well for her old owner who is alao your friend then could you ask her for advice and maybe have a 'lesson' with her? This might help you to gain more confidence with your mare as well. Howeevr if you truly feel she is too big for you (aka that is a problem in itself) then nothing of course can change that. 2 months isn't a very long time to have a horse and you'll still be getting used to and getting to know each other and she will still be settling in.
Don't give up hope :)

That's sad. Was that why your friend got rid of her as well? Maybe you could see if you could loan her or get a sharer as someone else suggested. If you had a sharer that was more experienced maybe they could work her enough for her to be more manageable.

It may just be the time of year though. A lot of horses are on their toes at the moment. How much exercise and feed is she getting? Is she kept in or out?
