Horsey areas of england?

I'm doing a business degree here in Auckland, New Zealand and am coming to the UK next year to do a year of exchange study. My uni offers exchanges to Birmingham, East Anglia, Exeter, Manchester & Nottingham.

I don't know much about the areas of England or the universitys there so I'm wondering which are the better regarded universitys out of those and also which of the areas that they are in are best for horsey things?

You will find horses in all those areas!

Exeter is the top university out of those you mentioned, closely followed by Nottingham according to the good university guide.

Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham are big popular cities. East Anglia is in east England and includes Norfolk, Suffolk and Peterborough.

Exeter is in Devon, south west England and which according to a poll in H&H the most horsey county here.
 
Nottingham is by far the best option

Where universities are concerned look up Russell Group Universities. They are the top ones for research. Some of teh ones you have picked are in that list. Horses are found all over Great Britiain but obviously if you go to the centre of Birmingham you will have to travel out a bit to find stables. Have you looked at Cardiff? It is a good university with countryside nearby although it is in a city.
 
The UEA (East Anglia) is in horsey country and has a tie with Easton College Countryside College - which is opening an amazing new equine facility in September* and has got some good things organised for next year, so thats quite cool.

As it is a rural county it really is very horsey with masses going on, so worth a look.

* it has an established equestrian centre, but has a new £2million centre opening in September.
 
I should imagine all of those unis have riding clubs, so they'll be horsey options wherever you go! From those unis I think I'd choose Exeter..it's a very good uni and it's in a fairly rural area and the south west is lovely!

If you want easy access to the rest of the country, then Nottingham. Very horsey! Easy access to all parts of the country. I live here, near the M1 (main motorway running from Leeds in the north, to London in the south-east), because of the easy accesibility (my job takes me all over the country). You'll find horses and events all the way round the city. Easy commute in and out from most points.
