just out of interest how many have horsey families . i have been passionate scince a child no one else was. i have had horses all my adult life, 13 year old daughter loves them, 10 year old son no interest and prefers football and oh supports me or should i say tolerates me and my obsession.

only me!! my sister begrudingly(sp) got into it when my foal was born but is not horsey!! mum rode when younger but hasnt in donkeys years and again not really horsey had to drag her to yard to see foal!!think i must be a throw back!!!!

i was born in to a horsey family, dad owns a livery yard and has done for over 45 years, mum and her sisters had horses form thier teens and my bro use to ride but cant now due to back probs but still helps with our liveries if owners go away etc,so i guess im realy lucky to have had it all my life, its great i love it

My mum was the first in her family to like horses. She was serious until she got married then it went out of the window. I think she quite likes that I am rather horsey, I definately got it from her as my dad's side are all non-horsey! Although there are some right country-lovers his side. Maybe it's the combination of genes, but I hope to carry it on for longer than my mum did! Other than us two, my little cousin (dad's sister's daughter) has a slight interest (never followed up so it never really took on with her). I'd love to be from a proper horsey family, it's a bit frustrating at times as my mum gets bored of me talking horses and there's no-one else! Maybe that's why I practically live with horses, what with college, work and my horse!

My familys horse connection are quite strange! But then so am I!!!!

On my mothers side her family were "gentleman Farmers" and had horses to plough etc. But death duties meant the farm had to be sold and family left farming to go to London. On my fathers side my grandfather rode in the army, thats all I know, my auntie and her daughter had horses for a while, I loved horses and my niece loves horses so it seems to zigzag across the female line! Apart from my grandfather, none of the men are remotely interested! (Well my dad was when I was a kid! But purely because it was sport! He still helps out occasionally such as when the farrier is here but, being 75+, I dont expect too much!)

Neither of my parents are horsey at all... and neither are my two eldest sisters, however myself and two of my other sisters are completely horse mad. And my brother can ride, but doesnt due to illness! Ive been riding 15 years now and begged my parents to buy as a pony since i first started. Instead i had to wait until 2 years ago when i could afford to buy one myself, as it was clear they never would. I think they resent them slightly, as we spend all our time down the yard instead of at home.. If they took more of an interest it mite help

Similar to you. Non horsey family. I was the only one. Dad took me to see some horses at a local riding school and that was it. My children have grown up around horses but son (13) isn't bothered and never took to riding but daughter (11) did and loves them..

No one else in my family is in the slightest bit interested in horses. I had my first riding lesson aged 3 which was forty odd years ago.

Only me, no one else likes them, my mum is terrified of them ! My parents said to me when I left school to work with horses that the biggest mistake they made was letting me start riding lessons

kept on for years "Whn was I going to get a proper job"

my mum used to ride but after having back problems (not horsey related) she was advised to give it up and was quite scared of horses acctually i think she only came to watch me ride less than 5 times before we brought izzy. Izzy is so sweet and has boosted my mums confidence(sp) so much that she has been riding for the past 2 years as i have managed to teach her on izzy and she hacks out (not without me cause she would panik if izzy napped or something)
I taught my brother to ride but he hasn't been to the yard in yonks and doesnt even relise we have a new pony lol. My auntie had horses which i used to ride when i was about 5 but shes on my dads side of the family so i haven't seen her in years anyway.

So no i didn't grow up in a horsey family i created a horsey family (well sort of still kind of alone atm lol)

My mum's quite horsey, I always remember her riding when I was a kid, and had horses around us all the time.
My sister took a mild interest, she worked at the kennels for a while, but didn like the cold mornings.

My kids are pony mad, and OH takes a keen interest. I think I may just get him on a horse one of these days.

I am the only one who likes horses in my family, My family do come and see me at shows and come to see ben every now and again.
But Just me, I have always loved horses since I was 2 so my mum says, I never got into it untill I was about 14 and never looked back since.

My mum got me into horses, her parents weren't horsey and she started riding at about 10-12. As a result of my mum getting back into horses when older, we started to ride a friends pony (about aged 18 moths/ 2 yrs for me) me and my two sisters got a pony and starting riding- at this time i was about 3 1/2 or 4 (still have the pony!!) My dad used to ride an old cob a little but hasn't really ridden in a while. Now my oldest sister has given up, next oldest is still interested but at uni so gets little time to ride and i'm still gonig strong!

My mum used to ride a fair bit when she was younger, but gave up before she had me. My parents let me have lessons when I was about 4 or 5 and that carried on until I was about 13, when they stopped paying for them. I wasn't allowed to work for rides. One of my sisters had lessons at the same time as me, but she was never really that into it, my younger sister is afraid of horses and my dad disliked all animals.

My mum is thinking about starting again though...she wants to come out hacking with me !

My mother and sister are horsey, mum used to own 14 neddies at one point(HOW she coped is beyond me!)
Fiance is now horsey..but he didn't have much choice!

mother and sister hate horses, father used to ride a bit, I think. I have an aunt that is into horses, but that is through marriage
