I'm a bit miffed to find a livery yard near Kent using photos of Koko (for those that don't know he's my lovely spottie who passed away in 2010) on their facebook page.

I've messaged them privately nearly a week ago asking why they are using my pictures but no reply. What do I do? I don't like the thought of someone trying to make my late pony look like one of their own.

If they don't own the photograph, they have no right to use it. I think that is only legal if you have copyright...but I know that an old colleague had a similar problem and a solicitors letter got the matter resolved very quickly.

On a personal level, will they not take it down out of respect for you?

There all over this forum so I'd imagine that's where they got it from. I understand if you put a photo on the internet you lose control of it. This sort of thing doesn't normally bother me but although his passing was a few years ago its still upsetting and I'd rather not have to see photos of him on some randomers fb.

Some people are so strange.

ETA: wouldn't wanna go down soliciters route as its rather petty just a personal issue. Sadly they won't respond to my messages, should I maybe post on the wall publicly?

Check out chloe_GHE's post in cr from the other day, she had similar issues with the background on her blog and got lots of helpful advice.

You're right, once you post a photo on the internet you do lose all control over it. I've found a few websites with photos of my horses on them and it doesn't really bother me (mainly because they all say nice things about my horses :) ) but in your case I do think it's out of order if you don't like it and particularly as Koko is no longer with us. I think all you can keep doing is to continue to ask them to remove the photos and hope that they have some common decency to do as asked.

Cheers DH, will have a look now. :)

Also I wouldn't mind if they made it clear it's not their horse but it almost looks like they're trying to make him out to be there own.

I'll be keeping an eye on this as a similar thing happened to me. My husband & I had a local dog trainer for our dogs & he took one of them out on a socialisation walk with his other clients' dogs. We then found photos and video on his Facebook page of our dog that he had posted without asking us prior so without our permission.

To make it worse our dog had a quite aggressive muzzle type thing on ( which is fine on his first day with dogs not known to him ) but he had focused on his face with this on for his main shoot with a military style 'SAS" type intro to the video with helicopter noises, camoflauge etc.

I've checked footage of other dogs' first walks with him and this hadn't been done and we wonder if he did it to our boy because he is a rottie and it was trying to put across some sort of message/advert that he can train dogs that have a difficult media image.

Our boy is the softest, soppiest boy you can meet and it's almost as he's trying to portray him as otherwise to beef up his ( trainers ) image.

It's not pleasant OP so I understand how you feel and will be interested to see your replies. I hope you manage to get the pictures removed.

I would post on the wall...just an aside though, I recently found a load of messages to me from people who are not on my friends list - there appears to be a separate inbox for these - I know I didn't know about them and when I told friends, they didn't either (and someone had already had to point me towards it in the first place)...they may be in the same situation? Sadly we are not all facebook pros

Report it to Facebook. If you took the photo it is still your copyright and still belongs to you. Not very nice when the pony isn't with us any more :(

Is there something in the air at the moment? Photos being nicked right, left and centre
