So tomorrow I'm going to give my first aid kit an overhaul, this is what I have included in my list so far

-Cotton wool
-Hibiscrub
-Gamgee
-Animalintex
-Antiseptic wound cleaner and clear wound gel
-Sterile dressings
-Vaseline
-Bandages
-Scissors
-A clean towel
-A roll of silver duct tape
-Nappies -for emergency polticing!

Now is there anything obvious that i have left off my list??

I always try and keep hold of a few emergency danilon or bute, for just incase. Other than that I think you've got all of the things I'd think of.

I don't honestly know, however I've never thought about use by dates on pain killers (

) and I gave my mare a danilon that was well over 4 months old a while back and as far I can tell it's had no adverse affects. Also my old cob that I had on loan used to have a massive box of bute as he was on it permanently and it used to last a few months, so I'd say at 4 months you'd be fine. However may be worth while checking with a vet or someone.

In mine
Stethoscope
Animalintex,
Sponge,
cool gel,
herbal leg gel,
violet spray,
iodine spray,
Vet wound powder,
Vet Embrocation,
Superflex self adhesive bandage,
White support bandage.
Scissors
Antiseptic green gel
also i have few creams for cuts oh and suntan lotion all ways handy to have
Ill have to check up yard 2morrow for everything
Oh sprang to mind Hibbyscrub
