Last week my horse got a small cut on his leg. It isn't anything too serious, but I had to borrow stuff to sort it with, It has made me realise how unorganised I am so am putting together a first aid kit for my horses and just want an idea of what to put in it please.

Purple Spay
Wound powder
Yellow antibacterial cream
Lintex
Cotton wool
Hibiscrub
Gamgee
Bandages
Scissors
Peha Haft (self sticking bandage stuff)
Vets phone number!

Can't remember what else is in mine.

scissors, vetwrap, animalintex, gamgee, arnica, wound powder, purple spray, insulating tape, Hope that makes a start for you! Sure other people will come up with more suggestions to add to it.

Whats in mine:

Wound powder
Animlintex
Vetwrap
Betadine antiseptic cream
Hibiscrub
Gamgee
Iodine solution
Cotton wool
Sterile syringes
Thermometer
Sterile hydrogel
Vet's number
Scissors
Vaseline
Sun block (she has a pink nose!)

Think thats it.

Tea Tree oil for grazes etc. salt for wounds (1tsp to 1/2 pint of water) rescue remedy. This is in addition to the bandages etc. Also plasters for people.

mine isnt the best but heres what i have:
animalintex
purple spray
aloe vera and tea trea oil spray (was very good mixed in with sudocream for mudrash!)
sudocream
savlon
vet wrap
cotton wool
hibi scrub

Babies (newborn size) nappies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great for using over a poultice to keep the toe from going through the bandages and tape.

The other thing I would not be without is Dermagel.... great for a multitude of wounds.

Also, I would always have Dermoline shampoo for lice and things...... after merlin was attacked by a deer ked last year. It was too small and quick to catch, but a quick shampoo later it was very dead and easy to catch!!!!!

Ive got:
cotton wool
bandages (lots of) stable, vet wrap etc
scissors - sharp
demobion
melonin pads
wound powder
antiseptic cream
antiseptic spray
leg pads - gamgee, eskadron pads
human first aid kit from Boots - with plasters etc in

Basically I suppose all you need is enough to either get you home so you can do it properly or enough to get them to the vet if its that bad.
