Pretty much self explanatory, me and my friend have been toying with the idea of going on a horsey holiday together, which would be veeeeery exciting as having sold my horse just before uni I'm need of some horsey time!

Would love any experience/recommendations etc. Bearing in mind we don't have huge budgets and I'm horseless. We are both up for something challenging as well

i used to love going to yorkshire riding centre for trainin g hols, quite pricey though, friends went somewhere in wales and did a stunt horse riding course (horse falling over a speed etc. too rich for my blood

My friend and I went to a place in mid Wales called Cae Iago (I think) It was the best laugh EVER!! We went out all day on really nice forward going horses, stopped at the pub had a good few canters. The food was lush and the local pub was good too. (had a lock in!!

) It wasn't cheap, I think we paid around £240 for 3 nights but was deffo worth it. There was quite an old bloke who took us out riding but he was very funny!! would deffo recommend. Only reason I've not been back is cos I'm permanently skint!!

Think they advertise in your horse. I know they've got a website. Try googling it.

a place in mitchel dean it gloustshire it is a lovely cottage set in fifty acres of a garden and you go for miles all around the forest of dean!

Free Rein in Wales. Riding Welsh Cob types, very fit and forward going, a good, slick operation. You can go in a group of about 6 with a guide, about 5-6 hours in the saddle over the mountains and moors. Lovely if good weather! Ride out one day, stay in pub/b & b overnight and back again over a different route.

Your bags are taken to the b & b, any problem with a horse, and a replacement is brought. Near Hay on Wye.

If you're looking at overseas too then I can't recommend www.doubleeranch.com enough.

It's a proper working ranch, groups are small and you WORK - if you want real challenge go on a roundup week. Or the cowgirl camp - I can't wait to go back, the most amazing place ever.

If you are UK only, the I'd second Yorkshire Riding Centre - it is lessons only, no hacking.

Castle Leslie in Monaghan is fantastic. We were there recently for 3 nights in a lovely room with dinner 1 night and 3 brekkies for €180p.p. There are lovely cottage syle houses tucked away on the estate and I believe its pretty reasonable to rent one. You can bring horses or hire, we did a mix of both, hired horses were safe but upfor the job, livery horses were very well looked after, top notch & really enjoyable weekend in every way!

I would second that. Castle Leslie is really amazing I believe. Have never been but friends have gone and had a brilliant time. Didnt realise you could get such a good deal though!!!
