Hi everyone :)

Me and 3 friends are organising to take our horses on holiday this year. We are looking for somewhere within hacking distance of a beach, off road hacking/quiet lanes, decent accommodation for us humans and either 24/7 t/o for the horses or somewhere with decent stables. We are in the very middle of England so anywhere in the country is suitable - no more than a 5 hour drive though. Did field farm in lincs last year which was fab but didn't know if there were any other places.

Thanks :)

Courtyard Farm in North Norfolk ( courtyardfarm.co.uk ) has basic human accommodation and stables / turnout.
Not sure if the beach is easily hackable from there but Holkham beach is just a short drive away

Pilton Moor on Gower (Swansea). http://www.piltonmoorstables.co.uk/

Probably about 3 hours from you in a car (depending on where in Warks) so maybe 3.5/4 with horses.

Amazing hacking even if you go nowhere near a beach but if you do, the beaches are out of this world. The nearest beach is Rhossili - recently voted the best beach in Europe. 4 miles of sand and as long as you avoid peak season weekends is often deserted. Lots of others nearby too. 95% of the hacking is off road but even the small bits on road are really quiet lanes and there are lots of horse friendly pubs to stop in for lunch.

We go as a big group so stay in our trailers (they have a toilet and shower on site) and sort our own food but they also have little shepherds huts you can hire which includes a continental breakfast or there's a bunkhouse just down the road and plenty of B&Bs in the area. They also have a cottage but it's a fair trip in the car even though you can ride over the moor in about 20 mins!

They have stables or turnout in little paddocks or big fields depending on the number of horses and whether they can all go out together or have to be kept separate.

Jo and Martin, the owners, are lovely, they can't do enough to help.

A couple of years ago we took the horses to Mill Farm at Wells next the Sea. We stayed in the horsebox or you can take a tent/caravan. The horses shared a small paddock. It's a 15 min hack from Holkham beach which is fantastic for riding. We found the owner (Des?) very friendly and helpful although the facilities are basic. Mill Farm is on the edge of Wells which is a lovely little town. Therefore it's easy to walk in to town for something to eat, drink or mooch around the shops.

This year we are going again and the horses are staying at Mill Farm again but we've booked a B&B within walking distance for a little bit of luxury this time.

I agree with horseaddict been going with my horse to Ocean Lodge Holiday Park Brean for years. All you need to take for your horses are grooming kit and hard feed. There is also mobile home accommodation as well as the beach house and direct access to approx 6 miles of beach.

We went last year. Was fab. Mill farm is great. There is a fabulous little bakery in town that makes amazing cakes :)

I stayed at Home Farm in Holme next the Sea, a couple of years back. Good hacking, 5 mins from the beach, great breakfasts, good pub just down the road, accommodation is in a barn conversion off the main house, we were the only guests at the time so had the place to ourself.
