Has anyone got any for 2024 ?

I've signed up for a working equitation clinic March, TREC camp in May, then organising a TREC competition August

I would like to try and qualify for the national TREC championships which are in Scotland this year , we've been to them 3 times in Scotland with the horses and made a bit of a holiday out of it staying in the lake district on the way up and back

Obviously with the usual pony staying sound caveat

Mine are much more sedate following our write-off of a year in 2023! Thankfully it seems we are getting back on track now that the arthritis is under control and we are slowly building up strength and fitness again. So my dialled back goals for this year are:

* Hopefully get back jumping again
* Fun ride
* At least one competition (whether that be in-hand or ridden)

Aiming high (especially as horse isnt convinced about the effort versus rewards of dressage)

Regain recently lost confidence / manners cantering & galloping on open grass and in company
Win a level 1 summer trec
Do a level 2 trec
Do a second WE competition
Score 70% at Novice or elementary dressage (achieved once with this horse but not for a while)
Try a medium with current horse, and build to achieving 65%
Complete a couple of EGB pleasure rides (including one solo)
improve muscle tone and posture for both of us

I am hoping to get my furever horse (do you like that!) in the Spring. Then have lessons, go to a couple of camps, start competing if I can shift this flipping weight.
I am so excited, my goal is to do as many fun rides as possible this year and get my partner helping me out with jumping at home (he is a level one FEI course builder).

I saw a lovely, lovely horse last night on Horsequest, but its a mare :(

Whilst my gelding was on loan, I mentally compiled a big bucket list of things I wanted to achieve with him when I got him back. I've very recently got him back, so want to start ticking off some of the goals I'd like to achieve together this year:
  • Get his canter established in the school
  • First fun ride together
  • First beach ride together
  • Enter an unaffiliated intro dressage test
  • I need to continue with my weight loss/fitness since having a baby

I turn a big number this year so have a bucket list of things I want to do this year. But things that actually involve my ponies are as follows,

Fun ride on TT before end of summer. He's 4 this year.
arena hire with TT
Small ridden show/dressage with TT
Show in the main ring at the Royal Welsh Show (Ben is my victim here)
Reggie out to shows and being a well rounded individual.

now that i’ve got my own transport, i’ve got quite the bucket list going on!

top of the list is to actually be prepared for the camp we’re booked on🫣
- take the baby pony to a county show
- pole clinics!
- beach trip

more than anything i want to get lily out and seeing some things, because she’s 10 and has absolutely no life experience - most adventurous thing she’s done is hack, and she’s not done a lot of that🤣

and i want to give diva a really good start to her education this year, and give her a lot of fun variety!

I also have a milestone birthday this year but I flatly refuse to make horsey plans because that's usually when they get the vet on speed dial
I've already started 2024 with retirement from an Intro dressage, getting splatted and my hacking pony having some quirky blood results. None of those were aspirations for this year!!

This year I aim to get Little Madam in foal (already a mine field and I'm just trying to choose a stalion!). If that doesn't work out, I will see about buying g a youngster in the next couple of years.
I want to keep the Old Lady alive and healthy to be an aunt to the hypothetical foal and she may step up some gentle hacking to cover Little Madam's maternity leave.
I may or may not get the ride on Enormosaurus. If I do, then brilliant, if not I'll probably take a step back from competing for a couple of years or see about bringing on green riding school ponies at lower levels.
Most of all, I aim to have fun!

Loving all the TREC goals on this thread. Is that Bucklebury Trec camp, OP? I shall most likely be helping at that one.
My main goal this year is to back my youngster who is meant to be my next TREC horse after having to retire my main man a couple of years ago. I'm planning to do it myself so working on building muscle now as well as lots of desensitizing etc. I'd like to get her out doing some in hand stuff too, and then maybe winter TREC next season in the saddle.

I am booked on the April Bucklebury Trec camp - hope to see you there.

I'd really like to be able to go to a clinic/lesson without Bo bouncing, spinning, bucking and attempting a wall of death through excitement, by the end of the year. To be fair it's only for the first 10 minutes or so, but by the time he's settled I'm beetroot red, nauseous and knackered!

Of course this does mean going out as much as possible.

I don't think a fun ride is going to be an option this year, think it would blow his tiny mind. But I am hoping to start using the local farm/estate ride.

Likewise I think a full ridden TREC comp would be too much but I'm thinking of taking him to do an inhand class at some point.

So mostly it's going to be about exposing him to things very carefully to ensure that we both have fun and he doesn't completely boil over!

But equally, if all we do this year is hack I'm ok with that too.

- To complete the Top Barn 12 Week Challenge
- To complete the winter Trec league
- To take part in some summer Trec
- To do some more multi-day rides - it was so cool camping next to my pony ❤
- To keep up our biomechanical, classical lessons
- Dabble in some more dressage

But honestly, I don't take it for granted that for a later teenaged metabolic pony 'just' exploring our amazing countryside for hours at a time with lots of cantery fun and pricked ears all the way is pretty epic in itself. So if we do nothing but that, I won't have any complaints!

Honestly, if we all go into 2025 with all limbs attached and general good health, I'll be pleased

Edited: To add my most recent goal!

If I can get my gangly spotty beasts topline nice and plump after his winter break, I’d really like to go to Windsor…

Otherwise I MUST start having lessons again. Embarrassingly I cannot remember the last time I had a proper individual lesson that wasn’t a clinic/group sort of thing.

And the rest is to just have lots of fun!

After a rubbish 23 with various health issues, the main aim in 24 is to have fun and enjoy myself and keep the horses sound!
Lots of pleasure rides and fun training. I've booked in to 2 camps already. I have a youngster who I should of brought on last year and I'm hoping to get him out and about and do all the "firsts" with him, hacking, cantering, group lesson, pleasure ride again last.

This is mine really. I love going up the hills and mountains on my horse 🥰 Some more dabbling in endurance, 'cause it is fun, kind of, and helps with health, fitness, pride and being taken seriously by other horse people.

I have very low level goals but good to have some I think.

Last year I succeeded in getting my heavy cob really light off the leg. Took tons of very short sessions where I felt we were making no progress so realising it worked has given me more motivation. So aiming for maintaining a balanced canter in something smaller than a 30 acre field.

Need to continue work to desensitise the new one, he's so good and never reacts but is actually bloody terrified of everything.

Need to get out more. Farm rides, fun rides, better hacking. It all feels such a slog to transport them but it needs to be done if we want to enjoy them.

I don’t have a horse of my own, but I aim to continue with my weekly lessons, which I hadn’t managed for a few years until recently.

Within my lessons, I want to improve my canter work. I usually ride a retired showjumper whose favourite thing ever is cantering. I’ve spent a long time working on his trot, which I’ve now found the right buttons for, and we get some lovely trot work, and good transitions within the trot, but now I want to be able to better control his canter.

I may also tentatively look into a part loan, although that may be something for another year.
