about 13 years ago I bought some liscop clippers from our RC secretary at a RC tack sale for £50 (they were about £180 new, not sure if with or without VAT)

Last week they went for their 2nd ever, half priced service (last one 13 years ago :o). Needed two new parts totalling all of £15 :D.

They are heavy and noisy and not ideal for doing the pita blonde one but they come out year after year to deal with any bit of Frank mulitiple times successfully :)

A stunning 1st grade English leather bridle in a traditional Hunter style, secondhand, purchased from eBay UK for 42 pounds, shipped to Sydney in 2001 and has been in constant use since. The reins are so beautifully weighted.

I did have to replace one cheek piece last year and had two new ones made by an Australian saddler to match which cost me more than the original bridle.

I've been hacking out this week in a Mark Todd jacket which I bought before one of the other adult liveries was born  Livery's horse was also wearing my first pony's bridle which hails from the previous millennium as her shiny new one had broken.

I think Fergs has been the best value though. Cheap to buy, cheaper to keep, and rather useful!

No definitely not!

I do have my mum's old leather boots that she bought to do her BHS exams age 18, I used them all throughout my teens. Unfortunatley my calves don't fit in them anymore! But rubber ones that it is super impressive.

I wear a Stylo sweater for stable work that I bought for my daughter when she was about 13.

She was 44 this spring.

I have a Rambo Wug that came second hand with a horse I bought in about 2000. It was in use every winter until 2018. Present horse hasn’t needed it. The winters have not been cold enough and she is a warm body. It is in my rug store waiting for cold weather.

I’ve got a sabre bridle that has been on all my horses and still is in super condition. Worth its weight in gold.

Ive got a lansdown rug that was made to measure for my first horse and has been on everything since (thermatex style).

Ive also got a fleece I bought whilst at the Sydney 2000 olympics that I still wear lots! Can’t believe it’s 20 years old ?

I have a fleece that was a return when I worked at mole valley but had clearly been washed and couldn't go back on the shelf.
That was 21 years ago :o

I have a small, 14" black Colemancroft show saddle that I was given by someone I rode for way back in 1997. It has been used on Shetlands and Welsh sparodically ever since. The saddle would have been a good 10/15 years old when I got it. I gave it a clean yesterday and it still looks amazing, it has had the odd bit of stitching down the years but nothing major.

My work saddle has to be the best one though. Bought for £295 10 years ago. It's away getting it's girth straps replaced but that's the only thing that has ever been done to it other than used and abusednon goodness knows how many horses in all weathers over the years! Stirrup leathers and girths have come and gone but the saddle is still fine. That's what happens when you buy a synthetic saddle but it has leather girth straps!

I've got a white equiport saddle cloth that I bought for a tenner secondhand over ten years ago and have used as my everyday saddle cloth week in and week out and there's hardly a mark on it or any sign of wear!

We have a set of robust trug type buckets that we use for water in the stables. they originally ahd rope handles but we cut them off for safety. We bought them while we were at livery. We have been here over 25 years and they are still going strong, although a bit shabby now. We would buy some more but I think that the company that made them has probably gone out of business by now - their products just have never needed to be replaced!

I also have a bridle that was bought in about 1990 and is now on its 5th horse. It had a longer browband added for one horse but otherwise is in its original form.

I bought a long bristle dandy brush for pony about 16 years ago and it’s still my favourite brush. It’s been washed a few times but it’s not as harsh as a regular dandy brush but not as flimsy as the long bristled brush of today! It just does the job!

A few things, but the one that springs to mind because I've just to bin it, was a foam filled brown fleecy type saddle cloth.

I think it was one of the first things I bought for Little Cob, so that was about fifteen years ago, give or take a bit, and whilst it proved too thick to go under any saddle, adjusting the fitting by way too much, it was grand to put under a roller.

Will miss it. Sadly, after all these years, the mice finally got to it :(

I bought a crappy blue masta stable rug years and years ago off a friend for a fiver, it needed a tear stitching which I did. That rug has fitted every horse I've had since and doubles up as a stable rug, under rug, travelling rug, sweat rug. Give it a wash and it still looks half decent, never rubs. I don't actually rate masta as a brand either fit-wise but it's literally the best fiver I've ever spent. Another friend has an identical one and when we go out together we bung them both on and hey presto matching mares!

Old Masta was always ok. New Masta I wouldn't really touch, especially the turnouts.

I have a Joules jacket that was bought for my daughter about 15 years ago which has been washed numerous times but is still warm and waterproof. My daughter wouldn't be seen dead in it but I wear it regularly on cold days both for riding and dog walking.

I have a striped wool blanket that I use as an exercise sheet in the winter. My grandmother gave it to me when I was 10 (not expecting it to ever be used I don't think, just symbolic) , and she had kept it from when she had horses in her youth. If she was still alive she would be 96, so it's at least 75 years old. It has a small mouse hole on one side, but other than that it's still perfect.

Its only about 5yrs old but I have had my moneys worth out of my hayball! I don't think I have anything really old though. My first saddle as a child was borrowed and it was decades old and still looked good as new. It had half panels, was flat as a pancake and had serge panels. It genuinely seemed to fit every horse we ever put it on!

I have a head collar that I use regularly. Bought it long before I got Thena, so over 20 years. It came free through a magazine and Cam equestrian catalogue, all you had to pay was postage. Fits anything, it's brilliant!

My saddle and my bridle I bought them off my horse previous owner there are about 10 years old and still going strong .

Our everyday thermatex still used most days in autumn and winter I got it in 1991 .
My favourite crate for standing on its a lemonade bottle crate I have had since I was sixteen . I acquired it when I got my first full sized horse .
My lunging roller it was a big purchase for me when I got it thats over thirty years ago.
I have other old things I use most days but those are favourites .
