Family evening pooper scooping field tonight, what a joy!Normally clear every couple of days but weather and complacency, evenings rides then its dark. We only have our three and their all wormed & healthy, but friends have suggested I do a worm count??? Would this be any benefit to me? thanks.

I've just done a worm count on my horses because I moved to a new field, and got 2 new ponies. I wasn't sure what their worm programme was before I got them so thought it would be a good idea. I used a company called Intelligent Worming, they design a worming programme for you as well. Haven't had the results yet, so I can't tell you any more than that!

Poo picking is my least favourite job (except maybe sheath cleaning!). By the way... how did you get your family to help? I'm afraid this job is left to me, and sometimes the dog helps!

I actually dont mind poo picking. I try to do it every day or it gets too much.

In fact, there arent really any jobs I dont enjoy......least favorites are probably worming and filling haynets, but I would rather be doing that than housework or something!!

I hate riding in the hot weather.....does that count? I *hate* that sweaty feeling under your hat!

Luckily, we very rarely have to poo pick. So I guess my least favourite job is soaking wet rugs that weigh a ton and ungrateful neds who just want to stuff their heads into the feedbowl so don't help at all. My hands, fingernails, underwear, shoes, car and house smell permanently of mud and damp horses from November to March!

My least favourite job is sweeping the corridor... our stables were bulit in 1864 adn therefore inside and have a cobbled floor..... I guess it was ok then they used straw but the F'ing elephant grass that we use (don't use it, its appaling!) gets inbetween and we have to get it all out.....

As for poo picking, I don't have to do it! Horses are in such massive parkland we've never had the need!

Wow! Your stables sound amazing!

My horsey job I hate is filling haynets.

We have big bale haylege on our yard and pulling it off is a nightmare.

I also hate grooming in the spring when they are losing their winter coats, the hair goes up my nose and everywhere.

I do however quite enjoy mucking out! As long as the stable isn't a total disaster area, it is quite satisfying turning a messy, pooey stable into a clean, comfy cosey one!
