I really get annoyed when some people try and butt in trying to make themselves sound like they know it all .... When clearly they don't !

Why does this happen so much in the horse world ?

It's bad in any walk of life where there are a lot of hobbyists - my oh runs classic cars and it's just as bad. Is this in response to a specific situation op?

I agree with DabDab - it happens everywhere. Some people are only happy when they can hear the sound of their own voice.

I tend to give advice only when asked for it.. Or on the odd occasion when someone is troubled but seems too embarrassed/shy to ask for help. Not everyone is so tactful. Most probably don't even realise how annoying it is :)

Met plenty of those in my time! Don't worry, it's not just you ;) The smile & nod thing works well for me :D Then when someone sees me doing what I want to do anyway, every time they've said something, they get the message.. Eventually.

I've found one even more annoying though: I had a couple used to drag me away from seeing to my girls to watch their daughter riding their gelding, who had a back/shoulder problem. They'd ask how I thought he was doing & my advice - then when it wasn't what they wanted to hear, ignored every word! Wasted hours of my time talking to them, only for my advice to be ignored.. If they weren't going to listen, they shouldn't have asked! I started avoiding them in the end.. :D
