My mare has slightly swollen (not fluidy more hard) back legs, front are fine. They are not hot to the touch and I cant see any signs of mud rash starting.

As well as this she just doesnt seem herself- walking slightly stiff behind, generally lethargic and looking tucked up. She is eating well and making plenty of poo's! She is 17 tb x arab and gets out every day.

Obviously I will get the vet if she doesnt improve but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Hi , she hasnt been standing in , she's out every day.
Her temp was fine earlier, going to check again in the morning.
Thanks for the replies

Sounds just like what my lad has had twice now, both in december time which is odd. Vet just said cellulitis caused by infection. Dont know how it got, he's grommed everday, had not cuts, just one of those things! on both occasions my lad has had to have at least 10 days antibiotics, bute and box rest with little but often periods of walking in hand. the swelling went down pretty quick but we just cant think what has caused it, it has only been in one leg too. I would get the vet out as in my expiernce the swelling increases pretty rapidly and can split the skin. Hope horse is feeling better asap!
