Horsey people are nuts

Having spent 25 years immersed in horses I have come to the conclusion that horsey people are seriously nuts.

I think through horses I have met more oddballs than in any other sector of society.
 
hey we are ALL seriously nuts,l for one do not know how to deal with ordinary jo public people

People I have met:

People who live in a craphole yet there stable is immaculate.

People who live in a caravan yet their horses have 5* stables and arena.

People whose kids run around wild yet their horses are immaculate and trained.

People who work for £2 an hour just to work with horses

Competitive mothers/fathers who away from horses seem normal. Get them within 50m of a horse and a child and off they go!

Professional people who would never normally do anything without learning in depth about it who just go and buy a horse and do not have a clue.

People who trust their trainer more than their own instincts even though the trainer has a view to making money.

There are loads more!!
 
We're all mad as a box of frogs.

Around a month ago I sat with 30 other people on horses for 20 mins at a hunt meet whilst the rain and really big hailstones hammered down on us. Nobody complained. Once it had stopped & I was soaked down to my underwear the Master gave his speech and we all went off for a few hours hunting in the rain, thunder&lightning (I thought that was fantasic, galloping along in the storm!). This is not the behaviour of normal people.

I once met someone seriously famous, all my friends were agog, I had been backstage to meet this superstar, and they are all like 'oh my goodness, what did you talk about?'

Honest answer? Automatic water drinkers.

Yup, horse people are nuts, even the megastars in another field, if they keep horses as well, it can be relied upon.

When I get together with my horsey friends we try to stay off the subject of anything horsey for 5 minutes. We are all so tired and menopausally forgetful that before about a minute is up somebody asks somebody else whether so-and-so is sound, or how are you getting on with that new rug. It's hopeless!!

My stables are so anally neat it is laughable, yet my house is a complete tip with nearly as many shavings as the stables.
 
best mate and I were discussing this yesterday. Have met some serious fruitloops via horses, despite having a job where I deal with the general public all day

just plain nutts and glad of it. hubby can never get over it when i get sent flying several feet when horse goes mad in the school i get up dust myself off give horse a lecture and get back on.

I didn't think I was that bad..... or are you talking about Siennamum?
 
Working all the hours god sends to afford to keep horse in first place.
Horse has better wardrobe than owner.
Being up til midnight after work cleaning tack to get up at 5 to get to show in time for a round lasting approximately a minute but feeling like it was all worthwhile if you manage to take a rossette home with you.
 
I realised this as a child, my mum and I constantly joke about it. However, this obviously means I'm nuts too. Hmmm. Oh dear!

At least it leads to many entertaining stories!
