Well, not in my case because I'm rather opinionated and don't really care what other people think

And by "don't really care" I actually mean something much ruder, involving bodily functions, but Admin might ban me

Not Argies. Argies are CRAP about looking after their horses so you can do what you like and no one will judge.
I'm QUITE the eccentric for going to the yard every day.. even if I'm not riding!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Also Saskatchewans!!! They think I'm obsessive for wanting my horses feet trimmed every 8 weeks. When they only do theirs ONCE a year twice if they are feeling kind. And why water them in the winter there is plenty of snow for them to eat *insert smiley banging head against wall*

But I love having my own place to do things excatly how I want!

I think it is funny ( or rather sad) that on nearly every yard I have been on there is always a group of people who do nothing but sit around drinking tea and coffe and slagging off everyone else on the yard.

Funniest/ saddest thing is that these people are the ones who never actually ride their own horses.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly, that's why I'm not at a livery yard anymore.

Shils you have been very quiet lately - glad to see you're back.

I agree, I know I like my beasties done and I do admit they are rather pampered and my YO wonders at me when I spend hours cleaning for showing. Equally I hate show horses that are strapped down, not turned out, over fed and over rugged just for the sake of winning.

I do agree about riding - as long as horse is getting some form of exercise, ie turned out, in most cases it don't care and the one thing I hate is "that horse is wasted" - I bet if you asked the horse it would reply it is happier with a rider who goes for a little hack every now and then rather than out competiting all the time and being pushed to the limit.

But that is my judgemental opinion.

I think you have it summed up to a T....

Dont you think its changed more in the last 5 years to you mast have a trainer and ride perfectly and those professionals well they cant ride for toffee???

That horse is wasted is my most hated saying too.... I have tried to explain what I think a horses daily thought process is. Eat, eat, poo, eat, nap, eat, drink, oooo scary thing, eat and so on

It sure as hell does not sit in the field thinking I am so wasted with her I could be jumping 1m40 tracks BSJA I hate this life of chilling and doing what I want most of the day

The best ones for me are the ones walking around with perfect long painted nails, wearing everything brown- coat, jods, boots, t shirt, all made by Ariat, telling people how to ride, telling you everything your doing wrong while schooling, telling everyone how shes done this and that, but ofcourse, better then anyone on the yard!! Has the newest rugs, very expensive tack, but hasnt rode for 5 months!!

My 'wasted' horse would share these sentiments!

I might ride today but then again I might just sit around all day drinking tea and bitching. My choice!

You know what I havent ridden in weeks and I doubt very much I will ride today either.... He has daily turn out and really only cares about his dinner and hay net

I think Im right in saying more women ride than men, generally you stick a bunch of women together and what happens?? Bitching.

The best thing to do is tell the people who judge to fallabella off.

Lol, but at least I bet you would put your horse in the field for a while for a leg stretch. I know several people who have horses that haven't been out of the stable for weeks - and no, they are not on box rest for injury.

I am very much live and let live but the one thing I cannot abide is a horse that is shut in its prison (sorry stable) week in week out because the owner is too lazy or too scared to turn out or give any sort of exercise.

If that makes me judgemental then so be it.

yep - I was one of those 'bad' owners who turned them out during the day throughout all the wintery weather.
Ps I did ride today after all but it was only a gentle hack up the lane.
