Thank you for taking my survey to help me with my college project :)

As the first survey can only collect a certain amount of responses i have created another to add the results to.

It is exactly the same as the first one.

Anyone else who thinks they can help out by taking this survey please use this new link to take part :)

Many thanks.

I completed the survey and marked the treatment as unsuccessful because the Liverpool treatment was not good and made matters worse. However, I have been feeding SarcX for 18 months and the messy treated sarcoid is disappearing and of the 3 untreated, two have disappeared and one is ready to drop off. These were identified by Dr K. (I can't remember how to spell his name!) as sarcoids.

It is interesting the treatments people have used which have been successful and unsuccessful for different horses.
I will look up Dr Knottenbelt actually, i think thats who you mean :)
Thanks

Had a few to deal with over the years these are the methods used to get rid of them:

Docking band

Surgical suture for a small one

Blood root ointment (expensive) but very good. They wither away and fall off.

All these methods worked first time with no complications.

Completed for you. I put yes to the has the treatment been successful. As it was removed by surgical cut and popping it out the skin it was a nodular sarcoid and so far we have had no more.

I only need a few more responses to make my survey reliable, please help me out. It will only take a couple of minutes.

Thank You
I am very grateful :)

Hi just done your survey for you, mine was successful and was from Dr Derek Knotte....yeah :D from Liverpool.

It is very important to hit sarcoids quickly and hard before they grow too much underneath the skin. he described it to me like a tree with roots meaning that as wide as the branches are above the ground, the roots are the same or bigger.

If you dont put enough treatment on initially to really kill off the growth, you run the risk of making the sarcoid imune to what you are applying which I believe is arsnic based - so should be handled by your vet.

Be proactive with sarcoids - dont think they will go away - they are cancer!

Thanks for all the information, Iv never heard of some of the treatments so its interesting to hear about them.
I chose this topic for my project as I have a horse that had them myself, so its interesting seeing what worked out for some people but didnt for others. :)

I've completed it! My horse had 2 small verrucous and I nodular. All treated successfully (so far - 18 months on) with Liverpool cream

I've completed your survey

My mare had 3 nodular sarcoids treated sucessfully with liverpool cream.

Interestingly, she was vetted less than a year before they appeared and they definately weren't there then, but she had just undergone surgery for a leg injury and a prolonged period of stressful box rest when they appeared so I do wonder if stress makes them appear?

had liverpool treatment on my gelding and he is responding excellently. Vet is amazed and how his body has reacted to the cream in such a positive way. The cream did cause two small sarcoids to develop but those have now been successfully treated with the cream also (rather have them appear now and get rid of them than them develop later on)

I have spent around £500 on sarcoids on my 7 y.o. gelding over the past two years. I tried Forest Farmacy sarcoid powder for a year which didnt help much... it slowed the growth down of the ones he had but they never dissapeared or fell off. Then i have been using Global herbs SarcX for a year (spent £300 on powder) which has worked similar to forest pharmacy. The sarcoids have not grown much apart from one on his eye which has got quite big but they have not gone. Tried Xterra Cream last summer which helped some of them to go but its so expensive £100 for a tiny amount. Wouldnt use Camrossa as it encourages growth/healing which is not what you want as you want to kill the sarcoid source. My vet has sent images to liverpool and we are currently waiting for response as the eye area is quite fragile for the strong cream. Oh and if the sarcoids are golf ball like on the inside of his back legs we put lamb castration on them and the sarcoids fell off but make sure you put antiseptic on it daily and better to do it in winter rather than summer (flies). One vet recommended the bands but the other said it is too dangerous. It is so so fustrating! I just pray they dont go around the saddle area as that will prevent me from riding such a good horse. I sometimes feel sorry for myself about them when i should actually feel sorry for the horse. Good Luck

Done, two of mine have them, minor warty things. The one mare has been treated with sarc-ex supp sucessfully & the other is on it now, hoping to get the same results :)

Done!!
the treatment for my pony was far from successful, he was having some sort of injections for about 6 months and they were still getting worse... he had one by his mouth and it affected his eating so we had him pts :(

Guessing this is for you IRP?!

There's a horse on the yard where my pony is stabled who has one inbetween his back legs, its currently banded so waiting to see if it will drop off!! But he has had it treated with liverpool cream before and wasn't successful in treating it.

Think us part timers need to meet up with the full time people soon!!
Sarah :)
