Horsey shopping - dealer recommendations please

Got my annual bonus this week so can go horse hunting for my son at last! I'm quite nervous as I've already known the horses we have bought before but this time I'm having to plough through the ads.
Does anybody know of reputable dealers within a 50 mile radius of Bedford? And which ones are best avoided (might be best to pm those!)
I've seen ads by Jo O'connor & Fan Anderson who are both close but don't know anybody who has used them.
I'm looking for something reasonably sturdy for a 15 yo boy. Age 6-10 all round RC type. Must be safe hack alone & incompany. Preferably live out (my other 2 do).
Naturally anything I see advertised is a long way away! Or I faint at the price. £4000 is my absolute top whack.

why dealers? I work in Bedford, live near MK and cant think of any reputable local dealers.

My mare is outside your price range...but how about looking on the pony club website/ there are lots of allrounders there and mostly genuine private sales.

Why don't you have a look on the Pony Club website - they have a Horses for Sale section - might have something suitable?

I've been working my way through every website I can find today! I have printed off a few adverts to discuss with a friend in the morning but it looks like I am going to be trekking around a bit as there is nothing suitable in Beds, Herts, Northants or Bucks & just one in Cambs.
