Hi im new to the forum, i have seen a lot of forum posts over the last couple of weeks, been very interested in all your disscusions so have decided to join you all. :)
Im after eveyones help for a new tattoo, i am a bit addicted to them :D
I want a horsey phrase, a nice sweet little phrase for example one ive found "heaven is the wind found between the horses ears" .
I would love all your ideas and be very greatfull thank you Vicky and Red xxx

Hi, I've thought about this a bit too, but haven't got round to getting anything horsey yet.

I've toyed with a line or 2 from ode to the horse. Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy, beauty without vanity... Something like that.

But then my youngster will be a little .. Ahem... Like he was today and I find I change my mind! ;)

This is one of my favourite horsey quotes but not sure whether it's ideal for a tattoo mind.

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. ~Winston Churchill Horse

Also another one which is nice:-

The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears. ~Arabian Proverb

I'm having one done on the side of my foot which I have stolen from someones siggy on here and it's 'today is a gift, that's why it's called the present'. After all the sad losses posted on here recently both human and equine it makes you think how precious life is.

Ive got a pegusus with taz's name underneath it on my wrist, i love it :D not in the best place but its sorta like having a bit of taz with me all the time.

Thankyou, I was looking for a quote, and that is it xxxxxxxx

I think the whole quote is 'yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future and today is a gift, thats why its called the present. However as I'm having it on the side of my foot I can't have the whole quote as I don't have size 68 feet !

Just a few, some maybe too long.
"In riding a horse, we borrow freedom"

"Horses lend us the wings we lack"

"Never ride faster than you guardian angel can fly"

"Horses - A wild heart but loving soul"

My favourite is:

There is nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.

Post some pictures when done, I have a fair few and I have contimplated it but not found the inspiration yet!

where are you thinking? how much text did you want?

I like this

My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder
He carries me away from all my fears
And when the world threatens to fall asunder
His mane is there to wipe away my tears.

I just cant find anywhere to put it :(

Finally a subject I can advise on!!!

I have many tattoos - I've lost count, but probably over 30 or 40 hours worth!! In lots of different places!!

So if anyone wants any advice or information, please ask away.

I'm not a fan or "wordy" tattoos, but each to their own.

I think the longer the phrase, the more "messy" a tattoo can look, because you tend to choose a pretty script which can end up looking a bit scribbly - especially after a few years.

I would recommend choosing no more than a couple of words and focusing on the background for those words eg "Run Free" with maybe some shading or swirls, or even a silouette of a horse.....etc.......

My tattooist refuses to tattoo names of partners - she has a sign up which says "my tattoos last longer than your relationships, so don't ask me to tattoo a name"!!! However, she will do the names of children or pets, as they are with you forever.

So another good option I think, is the name of your beloved horse.

Hope that helps, and if I can help any further, just ask away!

Good luck!! :D

PS If you've not had one before, yes it hurts!!! But it's bearable and fantastic afterwards! One of the best feelings in the world, and very addictive :o
