Ok well i admin i do not know what cubbing is, i know its hunting but thats about it. On the hunting note what the heck is a whipper in ??

Ok...so cubbiing is also known as autumn hunting. Basically it's when the hunt will take out the new dogs and young horses and introduce them to hunting. Traditionally this meant that the hunt would also go after the young foxes helping to disperse them but no longer. Great introduction to hunting for young horses and you wear a tweed or rat catcher not black or blue jacket. It is a prelude to the season. Whippers in help the master and are responsible for controlling the pack so they are the ones you see out on the sides! CCI ( deep breath) is Concurs Complet International and is run by the FEI. Originally you had the CCI ( think full format) and then CIC but when they changed the format they became pretty much the same. 1* is equivalent to novice, 2* intermediate 3 and 4* advanced. Difference between 3 and 4 is 4 is faster, longer and has more obstacles ( think Badminton and Kentucky). Hope this is a reasonable explanation!

What is 'concurs d'elegance'? I've seen photos of people dressed up in period costume, but don't know why and what they do?

Competition of elegance, can be driven or ridden both astride and side saddle. The judge awards the turnout with the most elegant and pleasing to the eye presentation.
