It's my first time on here and I admit, I'm not particularly horsey... I like them but don’t ride, but my gf is mad about them. We're due to get married at the end of this year and as it's our last Valentine's Day as bf-gf I want to get her something really special. She's mad about horses - has two of her own. Any ideas of something that would be romantic but not cheesy? And preferably horsey… want to earn some serious brownie points!! Thanks for all your help H&H peeps

My husband made two entwined hearts out of our horse's horseshoes. Everyone who has seen them has loved them, and we have done others for our sharer and our Sunday groom's 18th.

This is a photo of them before they were sprayed. Hubby is a mechanic, and it took about a half hour or so to make, then time to spray. Your local farrier or garage may be able to do it, if not there are people that make them on Facebook, if you're on there.

Your lucky gf! Wish my bf was so thoughtful... I recently got a horse hair bracelet from Gemosi and I just love it. I thnk that would be a really nice idea if you can get some of her horse's tail hair? they;ve a couple of lovely ones with hearts - perfect for valentines - http://www.gemosi.com/amor-horse-hair-bracelet/
Are you horsey enough to get the hair - would be a fab surprise...

Can I just say you should get major brownie points from her just for trying to find something horsey !!

Is there anything shes been moaning about not having?
Does she compete?

Thanks everyone - Glad you think i'm going to get brownie points :)
No, she's not moaning about not having anything in particular, there does always seem to be something she wants, but i'm really not sure what they would be :(
Yeah, she does compete Kassieg - does mostly jumping, but a bit of dressage too. big into her sparkles...
Really like the idea of the photoshoot, but she HATES having her photo taken - I think it might stress her out a bit too much! Also love the shoes idea. Have checked out the horse hair jewelery and it looks really, really nice! pretty cool idea. decision then might be whehter to go for the heart ones, or to get a gift voucher and let her choose herself? i think she'd love this sparkly one too - http://www.gemosi.com/gemosi-spirit-horse-hair-bracelet-silver-bead/ ?
I'll try to ask one of her friends if i go down to help her in the yard too this weekend - see if there's anything she's been talking about.
:)

How about a day out, you could have an introduction to Polo. You can join in, non riders can have a bash too.
You could have an introduction to carriage driving...
You could go to the races...

Or you could buy her a belt for her jods like these.http://www.equiport.co.uk/products/leisure-wear/belts-and-jewellery/snaffle-belt-b02/

or like this;http://www.equiport.co.uk/products/leisure-wear/belts-and-jewellery/narrow-pampa-belt-b05/

Or a snaffle bracelet like this; http://www.equiport.co.uk/products/...r-bracelet-with-silver-snaffle-detailing-b11/

God, just spotted that gemosi have a competitin to win one of their bracelets on their facebook page. I swear to god i don't work for them, just love their stuff! http://www.facebook.com/gemosi
Tho i do love the idea of a horsey day out - that's something you could do together too!

Ooooo, a day out, I might be able to do that dogatemysalad (strange name btw..!) - go to the races and win enough for the honeymoon??!
Will defo enter that facebook comp for the horse hair jewellery - thanks piglet99 (another strange name!)
Really, really apprecaite all your help and will get researching some more over the weekend. fortunately she's working tonight or she'd be rather concerned at me spending so much time chatting to horsey women! :)

If she likes sparkly things then there are always browbands, stock pins, belts etc from Bling my Bridle and bespoke bandages can make personalised bandages with lots of sparkle :)

How about a stock (to wear around her neck whilst competing)
You could have a tiny message embroidered on it where it won't be seen so only you two know its there.

Ps. Can you please teach my boyfriend how to be this thoughtful. : )

Lovely idea on the stock, but I don't think you wear one showjumping? She does a bit of dressage, but probably not enough. Right now I'm trying to decide between a sparkly browband and a horse hair bracelet... tho the bracelet (or possibly necklace) is winning so far...!
lol on the thoughtfulness. Wish this was always the case with me, but I'd be lying if i said it was :) It's a special Valentines as i've heard it'll be all downhill from here on the romance front once we're married!!

:D
