Farriers i agree with someone above either minging or quite tasty but always attached and banging half their client list. Not relaly boyfriend material then!!
[/ QUOTE ] I really do wonder what they teach them at farrier school!!
My farrier says he's only init for the girls. I think most farriers are driven by driving around in a truck, topless in chaps totaly in love with them selfs knowing all the woman (most whom single looking for horsey man) are ogling over them.
In fact i'm surprized male riders don't have trouble finding farriers, the ones I know most avoid them especialy gays
With vets to be where they are they must of been very clever which naturaly means fairly geeky where as farriers who tend to of been the bad boy type and never grown up.
thats what i need to find - a single good looking trainer/dressage rider - unfortunately ive decided thats never going to happen as they are all either taken or gay
All very interesting but again only one man put is six pence worth in. Are the rest of them chicken or is it just us women on the forum???
One of my male friends who's known me for, OMG I feel old, 18 years asks me if I scare men???!!! I tell him that if a man is terrified of me then he's not man enough to be with me!!!! That terrifies him!!! Funny, my MALE horse doesn't seem terrified of me!!!!!!!!! I still think the two best stories have come from Worried1 and ClaireT's story!!!
By the way, I'm only 33 for anyone now thinking that I am old!!!

Keep it coming peeps, you've all made me laugh and given me hope!!! Notice how no men have put their opinion in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Male / female ratio is definitely an advantage where horses are concerned.
Most of my girlfriends (prior to OH) where in to horses. I didn't really have a lot to say to non-horsey girls.
Met my OH through horses, we both used the same guy to for transport to shows.
Apparently she had told her sister she had found the one she was going to marry before we even started dating.
Needless to say I didn't find out about this until well after we were married.
I think the only horsey place where men out number women is polo. I have some friends who play and whilst I was always lucky and avoided dating any of them they tend to behave appallingly to women! They make excellent friends though they never stop giving up trying to get into your knickers!!
I had a horsey ex, we had a yard together and co owned a fair few horses for some time etc - NEVER AGAIN!
I would say that many of the traits I hated in him, I do see in most horsey men I know...
TBH, I'm not sure why girls are so hung up on finding a horsey man. For me, riding is MY thing, that I do with my friends/Mum and that's MY hobby and chill out time. I would far rather any bf had his own hobbies - couples who do EVERYTHING together aren't my idea of healthy. Sure, it would be nice to have one who's supportive and understanding about why you love your horsey time, but I don't think they need to do it too. I have a list of characteristics far more important than him owning a pai of jods
Having said all that, I have got a thing for a certain vet student at the mo though...

LMAO
I saw the arena polo at the British Open and there were plenty of hot polo men there!
And they made a point of announcing which hotel they could be found in too!
Hi Michelle, So no horsey men have put in their opinion! So here goes. I am definatly not gay but I don't like dressage. Yes I am married, have been for twenty years but OH is not horsey and not a supermodel. In fact she only comes to watch me ride once a year and only if I she has a good bottle of wine, an apple and a book, actually I don,t think she has ever managed to stop reading the book or drinking the wine to see me ride. But I agree with all you girls, that most of the guys who ride have this idea that they are something special. I admit that I do but my opinion of myself comes from being an instructor in the Army for 20 years. I'm not in the Army now but I still do some teaching and I am now an equine dentist. The best place for you girls to find lots of horsey men is in the cavalry. Good hunting!!!
Swears blind he hasn't but then I practically had to hit him with a sledgehammer to get him to notice that I liked him - so think it's fair to say he is a bit slow on the uptake
My ex boyfriend was horsey, and it was a nightmare. We argued more about horses than anything else. Basically we had completely different ways of doing things and it just didn't work at all.
Although it was probably more to do with the fact he was a spoilt brat more than anything else
as we used to fall out over a lot of other things too. Needless to say that is why he's an ex!
Aha, the thing to do is find a nice man then convert him to a horsey OH - which was my route.
Luckily he was sporty & fit and willing to have a go & once he'd sat on a horse a few times he was hooked! Now his horse takes priority over me!
ok Michelle, you've got to take up western!!! when I rode English my OH had no interest in horses, spent his spare time on the golf course, and if he had to come to the stable he sat in the car moaning..... I then discovered western riding and in the last 15 years he hasn't played golf once - he bought himself a QH, competes whenever he can, and absolutely loves it! It's great to both enjoy our hobby together and, good news, he doesn't have to wear jodphurs!!
"FORGET ME NOT"
Do you really like Ryan Prater??!! He has a girlfriend unfortunately, surprise surpirse! Most SJ do have women flocking round but they all sleep about, whether its in their own(wifes) home with a groom or at a show with groupies, they have no control and although not speaking for all I reckon about 98%! If you want a bit of fun then great, anything more DONT GO FOR A SHOWJUMPER!!
Sadly, my ex wasn't a horsey woman and didn't approve of my interest. And I don't seem to have had much luck in locating a horsey woman. I've just started seeing a girl who isn't even prepared to humour me when I try talking to her about horses.
I thought most girls liked horses. Or at least animals.

My tip is to find one who had horse mad parents so was dragged up with them and hence gave up in their teenage years. It's great they get it and don't nag you , nor do they try to take over.
All though you might get the odd comment about, well we never needed that etc when you buy yet another rug.
Oh and growing surrounded by horsey girls mean they do sometimes have a wandering eye and an over inflated ego.
Actuall in fact sratch this entire thread! There are no good horsey men to date
[/ QUOTE ]
How about men who were only interesting in riding after their teenage years??
I would've thought horsey women were easy to find, but decent horsey men - I agree, an impossibility! (Present company accepted those of you amongst us!)
Mind you, I have been out with one, but that didn't work as we didn't see eye to eye on the horse handling arrangements. His horse was rude and arrogant - a bit like him really!!!
So, I'm thinking maybe a non horsey hubbie would be good, as long as he likes rural activities, such as mending fences, creosoting stables, washing the horse trailer!!! And my friends wonder why I'm still single???!!!???

You've made me laugh - when I real off the list of what I want in my perfect man my friends say I'll never find it and thats when I say I'll stick with my horse coz he loves me and will do anything for me!
Glad to see we had a couple of men having their opinion, more please! More more more! I'm still talking stories here peeps, you just keep making me smile! I don't mind if its a non hosry bloke as long has he knows he'll never see me!!!!
