phew! Im ready for a glass of wine and a hot bath i think! twig my 4 year old decided to have a nappy/rearing paddy out on our ride round the fields tonight. There are a set of small barrels on their side which we have trotted over confidently before and tonight she decided she wasnt going anywhere near them - cue spinning round, rear then nap. Spun her round in a couple of small circles and then sent her over them (a bit sticky) turned to jump them again to get a nice jump, again spin, nap, rear, plant and kick out with hind legs. Turning in tight circles seems to be the way forward with this though she does try and go to bite your leg when you do this! she then went off forward and gave me a lovely jump over them then decided to leave it there.
my gangly 4 year old racer is gaining weight, strength and a top line and deciding to try it on!!! she has a newly fitted saddle, teeth etc are checked and she has tried it out once or twice in non jumping situations so i can safely rule out pain.
On a happier note, she went to her second ever show the other week to do a prelim test and duly won!
so all hope is not lost yet!
