I've always done this with just warm water but a friend of mine adds vinegar to the water when she does it?

anyone else use this (or someting else?) to give clipped horses a good clean?

Yep, I use Vinegar, or the Mark Todd relax and rewind competition wash

Both help remove grease better from the coat

i have been recommended to use soda crystals by someone trained the old fashioned way !! (point 2 pointers hunters etc)

and considering my horse has sensitive skin (comes out in hives if i use red rum stuff amongst others) it works for him.
patch test first just in case thou.

Soda crystals, work wonders for getting rid of the grease.
My bay boy gets hot clothed all the time (even before he was clipped) before he leaves the yard. Gets rid of all the dust as well, after a good groom.
And the surgical spirit, for any sore or tender bits.

I use lavendar wash and hot hot hot water - I wear rubber gloves to wring out stable rubber - which I then hold against my cheek (think flannels in chinese restarent hot) and then you are ready to go to work!
Horses enjoy it and it keeps skin condition good, no scurf etc.

I hasten to add on a cold day - or just in winter generally i do this in 1/4s so the horse isnt standing out shivering.

I use dettol or savlon too.
Never thought of using the competition wash, so might try that but not vinegar as I don't like the smell
