Hot Hoof

I have a 4yo OTTB who threw a front shoe on Tuesday and the farrier came today. He said his hoof was very warm but I did say that he does usually have quite warm feet so I dismissed it and got distracted. When I went back tonight the other front is cool. Is there anything I should do or worry about. Forgive me but he’s m my first baby and I do worry a lot

Trauma/ soreness from losing the shoe? My OTTB did this but it soon went once the shoe was refitted.

Ah thank you, so should a couple of days rest be ok? He doesn’t seem lame or anything just hot.

You should check all 4. Surprisingly often one is temporarily cooler than the others, not hotter, and this isn't a problem. I think I would also expect aTB without one shoe for a few days to have a warm foot for up to a week.

Great I’m going to check again in the morning. Just wondering really if he should be rested.

I’m trying to work out if he can be ridden or not. It was cooler this morning but still warm. Would he be ok for a hack tomorrow?

My tb gets a warm foot if he looses a shoe. If he is sound I would hack.
