Hi,

has anyone used Maurice for a check of your existing saddle? If so please could you give me some feedback as I need a saddle checking and wonder whether to try him.

Please PM me if you prefer.

Thank you

Thanks Katherine, I think my friend has her so I've just text to find out. I do have a saddler come regularly but I am looking at finding someone in my area that can come and do a check.

Do you know if she has a website?

Thank you, I've had a look and see she is a master saddler so that's great. I've also done a search on here & seen Janet Legg at Nutwell so now I'm not sure what to do!

It's such a minefield with saddlers and I want to so the right thing. I only had my saddles done in February but my bay horse now has a patch of white hair coming through below her withers which she has never had in all the years I've owned her so something is obviously wrong. I've done a hunter trial today and been hanging drastically off to one side so I need someone who can come quickly but do a good job.

I'm a little upset because I get my saddles done approx every 9 months so to see a patch of white hair developing is very worrying. I realise horses change shape, especially at this time of year, but I am concerned that maybe the job done in February has caused some sort of problem.

I can also highly reccomend Jodi Hooper, she is brilliant. Very thorough and makes sure you and the horse are happy. I've got her coming out again to do my youngster and a couple of friends horses as well, and I certainly wouldn't use anyone else. She managed to fit a saddle to my lad who has a wither like a sharks dorsal fin (no joke), when I had lost all hope of ever getting anyone to help.

I can safely say I've been through everyone in cornwall and there are none of them I would touch with a bargepole (unless it was to beat them with it!). Unfortunately we seem to have more than our fair share of people who haven't a clue.
