For those of you who have your own house with your stables in your back garden so to speak, do you insure your stables separately with another insurance company or tagged onto your house buildings insurance? My insurance has been creeping up and up over the past couple of years (no claims made either) and my new renewal figure has come through which is ridiculous. So suggestions please as to what company to use and how anyone insures theirs. The stables are for private use only. I'm trying to insure my house building, plus a block of 14 stables, a rug room, a tack room and a feed room, plus a barn and four internal stables. I've told the insurance company I'm not happy with the figure they've quoted and they've suggested I do a revaluation of the stables, i.e. work out how much it would cost if I knocked the whole lot down, cleared the whole site away, and then had to rebuild them all. I've just been on to the comparison websites but unfortunately nothing on there gives me the opportunity to do a combined house and stables insurance, but just by doing the house alone, I've got quotes which are hundreds of pounds cheaper than my present company. Would appreciate any useful information from home owners with stabling. Thanks.

we are with NFU at the moment, they insure everything, house, stables, outbuildings etc as one policy. However, we also had our horses with them until the recent price hike. We will be looking at another company in the near future to compare their prices with NFU and if they give better cover/value we shall move.

All sorted. Spent a couple of days going on compare sites and then phoning various companies asking to include stables, barn, etc. and got lucky with one company. My insurance is now £70 per month cheaper for the house, stables and outbuildings and contents of the house.

Hi Penniless, please can you share the fruits of your labour - which company was it that came out the best for you?
