House Training Rottweilers

Anyone have trouble house training this breed? Ive always kept GSD but got Hunni when her owner couldnt keep her anymore.

When i bring her inside, i take her back out every 15-30 minutes. When she goes outside i praise her and give her a treat. However 90% of the times she goes outside (is out for about 10 minutes) she goes to the toilet when she comes back in again.

I clean the mess up with tea tree oil and baking soda as this apparently kills the smell of where she has gone. It does seem to work as she goes in different places.

Shes just over a year and a half old. Been trying to house train her for ages but she just seems to go where she pleases.

Does she get told off when she comes back in and goes in the house?? My brothers lab who was quite good as a puppy, went through a phase of coming back in just to sh1t on the carpet, when she was about 18months old. I'm afraid I smacked her (I know some people say you shouldn't), but it stop her doing it again. She started doing it again at about 5yrs and again stopped after being scoulded. I'm not saying this is the right approach, but if they know where to go, and have been given the opportunity to go there, then I'm not sure what else you can do. ***waits to be told I'm a very bad mummy!!***

Our first Rotty, Holly, Was a nightmare to house train. We used to walk round the garden for ages saying " Go wee wee " and Go poo poos". She wouldn't 'til we got back in!! On one memorable occasion I was in the rain walking round and she weed in the porch and stood watching me. Perseverance is the only answer. They are a strong willed breed and to know them is to love them! I didn't smack but used tone of voice to indicate how bad she was being. A friend of mine used a plant sprayer to dissuade the habit which was quite successful. Good luck!

Oh yes - my rottie was about 9 mths before he was house trained, and even after that there would be the occasional 'accident'.

He would poo on the carpet to punish us for going out (I'm sure) even though we had another dog and he wasn't alone.

Just persevere she'll get there in the end. And don't forget you're not starting from an 8 wk pup but an adolescent dog who needs to get used to you and your commands after re-homing.

Never had a problem with mine..she is clean as a whistle...infact she suprises me how long she goes between....u need to restrict free run of the house until u have trained her...start from basics....maybe introduce a crate and get her used to being clean in a smaller space before giving her more of a free rain around the house.....give praise and a command when she is outside and passes urine or faeces, and never let her out of your sight when she is out of the restricted space u choose i.e kitchen or crate....so u can stop the action and remove her to the garden....let her out everytime to come in and go out, and after every meal.
try not to stay and watch her in the garden...watch her from the window...then go and praise when u see her passing the motion.
If its just urine...have her checked for a water infection or incontinence...its more common in larger breeds.....however I suspect it is just house training....but I would definatley recommend crate....as thismeans u can control the motion of letting her out each time and taking her straight to the garden...this starts a routine....as opposed to her having a free rain of the house to piddle everywhere or restricted space whilst training

my boy is a sod bless him, he is a rescue dog and was really good for a year and then in the last few weeks has been sh**ing in his bed after being let out, my partner had been telling him off with no result, but when i scoulded him he stopped instantly, (no didnt beat him, just made it known to him i was very angry with him)however we have found out that there is a bitch just moved in nxt door so i think that triggered it, you do have to be very firm with this breed sometimes as very stubburn which is why i have them lol matches my personality haha

my rotti is the cleanest ever but i must look the other way as she doesnt like to be watched.
