Dear diary
This week I am mainly changing my name. I feel that whilst my nickname The Destroyer is manly, my normal name is not and does not convey the essence of who I am. Mother habit of calling my Hovey does not help matters. So I need ideas. What can I change my name to? I want something that gets across my manliness and talents and cannot be shortened to something that sounds like a biscuit. Ideas on a postcard please.....
So last weekend saw me out hacking with Aunt Sammie again which was fun and then on Sunday – JUMPING! And I mean JUMPING not stepping over 18 inch cross poles with mother hyperventilating in my ear. Proper big boys jumping with high fences and everything. Well they were high for me – prancing high stepper boy came in after me and put them up to really silly heights but that was just to show off............. aunty Sammie says that I really take her to the fence – well where else are we supposed to be heading?- and that I try my best even when she gets the stride wrong – I’m too used to my mother’s approach of canter, shut eyes and pray. Apparently she hooked me up on one attempt so early that her previous horse would have stopped dead and let her jump it solo. Being the gent I am I put in a massive leap and cleared it whilst sighing loudly about women who can’t judge distance...........
We jumped doubles and singles at about 80cm which is higher than mum jumps and Aunt Sarah said I have plenty of scope to go higher but Aunty Sam wants to work on my tendency to pull slightly right over fences. Good luck with that – mother’s being trying to stop me for 5 years and failed miserably. I really enjoyed myself and the new girl just watched in awe. Even dolly looked impressed so I felt very manly and athletic. Until that highly bred river dance reject showed how he does it. Show off. Even mum pointing out that a) he is bred to do it b) he jumps for the RAF and c) he doesn’t have his own face book page and fans, did not cheer me up. Toss pot.

That said for the rest of the week dolly has been snogging my face off – literally, I am missing a chunk of skin near my moustache – and the new girl Molly has been neighing to me whenever I enter the barn so I’m feeling quite good about life. I am a rippling mass of muscle, fitter than I’ve been in a long time and for the first time in years pulling the ladies rather than a muscle. All I need now is to wangle an invite to the big party this summer and life would be good. Aunt Sam is talking about taking me for a play over some cross country jumps soon so I’m thinking the party organisers are waiting to see my prowess at XC before issuing my invite? It’s the only reason I can think of as to why it’s not arrived yet? I heard William Fox-in-a-hole has got his invite already though so maybe mine is just lost in the post?

So after a nice hack out with dolly and her mum last night I am currently chilling and eating my way through a field of grass so high mum gets lost in it when she pushes my electric fence back. She did moan like heck the other day when it had been raining and her legs were wet to past her knees. I thought it was very funny and added to her woes by spitting water down her neck. I know deep down she loves me and found it funny............very deep down...........I think...........

Anyway I am off to await the postman for both my invite to the arty and name suggestions from you guys. Laters..........

Hows about Trojan or Rambo, pretty sure they can't be shortened Hovis:)! However you fans love you called Hovis as its the best thing since sliced bread!! A real man can be called Marion if you think of John Wayne....man up and be proud!! :) We all love you :)

Man Friday! Can be shortened to Manly for everyday use!

(is there a prize for the best name? If so, I'd like a signed copy of yoiur latest book for my two mares to swoon over. One blonde, one brunette - take your pick).

If you think you've got problems with your nickname my boys are Poofbag and Donks! Have to be careful when shouting for them across the field as there is a path so sometimes shouting Oi poofbag is not advisable lol

As for a new name easy GOD :)
