How about this place to send your poor unwanted horses & ponies!

"we take any horses ponys and donkeys free to a good home and find a sutable home for the asap we take anthing from companion ponys to champion show jumpers"

Erm... can't imagine many "champion show jumpers" have problems finding a home privately to be honest! How weird, I wouldn't touch them. Bad spelling and grammar always rings warning bells with me.

I liked the champion show jumpers and champion show ponies part. That seems a little elitist for those ponies that are not "champions"!

Also there are a lot of grammar mistakes...

PMSL!!
Do you think they also act on behalf of the wife of a dead 3rd world dictator who wants to move his assets into the UK and needs YOUR bank account details to do it? (of course, you will be entitled to a big cut for being so helpful...)

sounds great might take my pony there and swap him for a champion showjumper

Well, my Warrior nearly got sent there yesterday he was such a horrible, horrible horse when I rode him.

However, he got a reprieve beceause he lives out 24/7/365 and therefore doesn't have a stable rug - and I didn't have the time or the money to go out and buy him a stable rug just so that I could comply with the "must have one stable and one turnout rug" condition.

I bet it's a black hole for horses - I hope no one's fallen for it!
I wonder what it is like....it could be really nice...
y'never know - pigs might fly!

Oh thanks for bringing this to my attention...I have been having problems selling my JC (8 year old) champion pony (for £12,500.....) will quickly phone them and ship him there with his requisite two rugs...........Oh there go those flying pigs again

For the definition of irony, see the ad below it: "Protect yourself from SCAMMERS - Check if this seller has registered with the National Equine Database. Find out about the latest SCAMS by visiting the Metropolitan Police Fraud Alert website"

ha ha!!!

did'nt bother to look were it was but someone must live near there, that could go and look round if it's as dodgy as it sounds it may be possible to open the can of worms and save some poor horses getting shipped to their final destination.

It says it's in Durham - anyone near there want to take a look?

Interestingly there are no phone numbers, only email contact!

We live near there. Houghton is a VERY rough place.

Maybe that's where I've been going wrong - I should advertise to take a horse for free! Think one of the whitakers will acquiest?

sadly a lot of people are struggling financially and will do anything to relieve the burden of livery bills...I sincerely hope they are not tempted by this cowboy ad.....

Has anyone e-mailed them? I am in the North East, theres normally an ad I think in the yellow ad trader offering £50 for unpassported horses and ponies. Maybe its the same people. What do they do with them, does anyone know? Just try and sell them for a profit or what?

wouldnt let just any one take mine maybee they are meat traders meat man gets £250 in uk for horses ive herd and if they were going overseas meat traders does not need passports 10 can go on one licence

What a fantastic idea. You take in free horses, and then sell them.

Either privately, through auctions or to other dealers. It has cost you virtually nothing, and you get all these lovely rugs to sell on ebay too, plus free transport one way!

Sadly, there are lots of people who would do this I think. People just get desperate and want shot of a horse.

A friend of mine has just taken on a free pony that was sold to novice owners just 9 months ago for £6k. They had trouble with it, I don't know what. And gave it away to get rid of it.

Unfortunately, not many of these 'problem' animals are so lucky.

I quite resent that comment about Houghton, I live their and its certainly is not rough, I think you will find the area you were calling rough was knocked down a fair few years ago.

I have my suspicions on who this is, im off to do a bit digging, I shall let you know if I find out who it is
